That's fine and dandy but what do you do with the millions of resources doctors have saved that can only be useful for buffs? Ya, fcuk us I guess.
And realism said "bye bye" a long time ago in this game. If it were realistic everyone would be ranged and fights would be over after one successful hit.

The early days when buffs were not used was my favorite, more of a challenge. I'm a doctor but i do miss those days.

Ive noticed people have started a petition to chuk buffs out of the game once and for all, well heres my post i put on there, jus thought this could change some people minds:
i believe buffs do add a kind of star warsy theme to the game, in the future there prolly wud be such thing as temporary genetic augmentation (buffs) that allows a single human being able to take on a rancor, think about it people, would a human being (tk or not) realy be able to solo a fs nightsister or a giant rancor? i dont think so...so if u want to make the game completely unrealistic and make an unbuffed bothan take out a rancor as if he were buffed and go ahead, but i garantee you its only gona make the game less realistic and only the mindless grinders will benefit
many people would have me hung for saying this but i prefer the game 2 b realistic rather than easy (if removing buffs and making every1 uber is the easy option)

Point out to these people that by going a lone these lines there would be no HAM bars, no stats on weapons, hours and hours waiting time as you travel between planets, no jedi, less cloners etc etc
Buffs are there so player thats don't want to hunt in groups can. I feel they are a bit high stats wise but apart from that they're fine

people dont want this game to be realisitc because its a GAME. Entertainment is about escapism not more of the same stuff. Would you watch a movie that was 2 hours of you at school or work? There should be certain points of challenge in this game but not to the point that its more of a chore to play than it is fun. Those points are there DWB Corvette, to a degree the geo caves...
Is this a Multiplayer game, yeah it is and for my part I like grouping and doing things but I dont think people should be handicapped if they dont or cant group.

Mmm.. remember when hunting Krayt meant getting a FULL group, that had to include atleast 2-3 docs to rez the fallen, a squadleader, several "tanks" (melee types) and tons of firepower.. once the beast was down everyone practically cheered ![]()
Teams of three people hunting pikets were my favourite.. a tank and a shooter, perhaps a medic/ranged as backup..
The one thing I don't miss tho, is Pet Wars - A Galaxy Untamed .. everyone and their droid had a HUGE kinetic tank pet that they hunted with, triple rancors and other such crazyness..

Yea i understand the point of it is to be unrealistic to a certain degree ( like the tks being able 2 kd a rancor) but if we were to walk around permenantly buffed the game wouldnt be a challange @ all, and also i think realism in SWG is important to an extent, if everything was like the matrix and we could bent the rules it just wouldnt be fun, if the game is entertainment, i get entertained by overcoming challenges set by the game.

Am getting tired of this nerf this and nerf that. On Chilastra am a doc 0440 and do not like it when there are those who are pushing for buff nerfs. Do these folks not understand that in order to wear armor one needs buffs. If you going to get rid of the doctor buffs you might as well get rid of the mind buffings.
The Biggest reason for the buffings I see is the 1800 stats points that every player gets. At launch each race had thier own maxium stats ranging from 1900 points to 2500 points. I picked a race that had like 2200 stat points and was killed over 87 times as a pistoleer/medic.Groups were a must back then, but still people died and cloned more time than they can count. What happens is that some "powergamer" with $$$ somehow convinces CSR and DEVS that bug exploitation was going on and they NERF the stat points forcing everyone to 1800 stat points. What did I and lots of players do? We deleted our avatars and started over. Before the buffs came out (SOE did not like losing subscribers) my new avatar was dieing a average of 134 times a week. It got to a point where I just stopped playing altogether.
Now there is a movement to NERF THE BUFFS..
Do you people never learn? Obviously not. Anyone remember Earth and Beyond? One of the main causes of EA shutting down Earth and Beyond was the HEAVY NERFINGS AND SUBSCRIBERS CANCELLING THIER ACCOUNTS as a result of the heavy nerfings. The dev team there got a reputation as a Nerfing Dev Team. I can tell you right now, several of my online friends who are in the IT community says they will never hire any developers that has a reputation as a Nerfing DEV. And SOE/SWG devs are getting a fast reputation as a Nerfing DEV team.
Nerfings are bad for buiness. Instead of nerfings players should be offering solutions.
As for soloing due to Buffing, I call that BS. Even with Buffs there are still tons of creatures/npc's I cannot do in this game solo even when on my elite combat profession tree. I cannot even get master doc thanks in part to the stupid skill point system of 250 skill points allowed.
A possible solution would be to bring back the Maximum STAT points for each race.Allow docs to buff to them or buff themselves.
Decrease skill points on all boxes both normal and jedi professions to 1 skill point each.
Make it so that players who choose the Range Combat Professions are disallowed from doing any Melee Professions
Make it so that players who choose the Meless Combat Professions are disallowed from doing any Ranged Professions
Removed the requirement for Unarmed IV for Commando.
Little things like these is lot better than resorting to nerfings left and right.

I agree with you up to this point... if they did this you could master every range profession, Doc, Ranger and still have 106 skill points left to play with... there be no point to talk to anyone as you could make and do everything yourself, this game works because you are forced to speak to people to get a Buff, get someone to harvest resourses for you, make weapons and armour for you...
