Thread: Doctors should have some protection

I have a dedicated doctor/merchant. No combat skills. Now as I was walking through espa on my way to the starport I was agroed by a thug. Usually not a problem except I am 100% faction neutral. Then I was a agroed by a DESERT SQUILL I mean any noob that was walking around could have been killed let alone a doctor. Now I think either give doctors some type of protection or keep agressive npc/creatures at least 500m away from the cities.

P.S. As with all my posts I ask you respond to eachother in only a polite fashion. Thank You

Nah man.. adds to the excitement..


Im sure in the "real" star wars galaxy thugs would be around aswell. They would be trying to mug you aswell, trying to get your cash etc.. it shouldn't be any different in game.. The beasties (squills) have ever right to beat on you aswell imo.


My crafting doc is also master doc/ master merchant. also with no fighting skills.


When he goes out surveying, and placing miners i always buff him anyways..
There have been a few times, where he was stuck on agro within the sp terminal. in these cases i usually ask someone to kill them for me. Or bring my main char to him to do the job. Personally it doesnt bother me, it adds an element of risk to the game.

I still think it would be cool if you placed a miner that it was attackable by the opposing faction. Only while its going up mind you, not once its constructed.

It is one of the dangers of being in a wild place like Mos Espa or Mos Eisley... There isa WAR going on and this is a dangerous time.


Non combat characters should stick to safer places like Bestine if they are on Tatooine, or Theed if they are Naboo.


When I started playing just after beta, getting whooped in Moenia was one of my bugbears, but now I just go down there and fry those punks every once in a while


Grab yourself some armour and a pistol and you will be fine.

I have to wonder - Bestine, safe? At least in Mos Eisley the thugs seem to stay in a few areas, and are often camped besides. The Bestine thugs can be anywhere in town...

The game is designed for that sort of event. You could have easily chosen to add combat to your template, but you didn't (which I actually think is kind of cool). I have an ingame friend who is a DE/MA and sends me tells once in a while to come escort him while he moves/checks harvestors, etc... It's fun for me, and he either tips me or gives me a droid for my trouble. That builds character interaction which, in turn, makes the game more fun.

My suggestion is to make yourself familiar with several combat classed folks and offer cheap/free buffs/heals or tips in return for their bodyguarding services when available.

Maybe get a droid to protect you or a pet? I can understand your dilema.

You are missing out on a great fun You'd be surprised what you can do with pre-nerf republic blaster or nym's slugthrower (both AP1!!!), 80% composite and C12 granades Especially if you were buffed!!! (which wouldn't be an issue for you as you are a doc) These weapons are non-certified, so anyone can use them Have synthe steak, piketta pie and brandy ready...and show that mean thug who's in control.../pep

My friend's toon is AS/MA with no combat skills, and I, sometimes, use his open lots for harvestors. His toon is equipped with prenerf-nym's slugthrower and C12s, and it's so much fun to kill stuff with those With core 4 pieces of 80% kin composite and buffs, you can protect yourself well. Not to mention that as a doc, you can heal +2000 hams and status effects with stims and cure any DOTs...my friend's toon doesn't even have a novice medic x)

doctors are healers not fighters, and if your a non-combat charactor what does it matter if you die ? your resources and medicines don't decay so just die, and get it over with
