The CU will go live all at once, not in parts. Whatever changes might happen to buffs will be only a part of a completely new system. The first indicator for most players that it is coming soon will be when public beta starts. Until then, there's nothing to do but keep playing.

No indication yet. All right.
Although I do remember TH stating there'd be small combat changes before the CU goes live (like the CM nerf).
Maybe buffs will be part of that.

just posting this everywhere i can please read.
If we had no buffs the devs would be able to perfect the npcs/mobs because the stats that people have would be within a set range, say that the minimum health pool size was 1000 and the maximum 1500(and capping at 2000 with any food/drugs), then the devs know that every player has a health pool around that size, and not less than 1000 , so npcs could be designed to never one/two hit kill you like they can now(go to the deathwatch bunker with no buff) , often your agro'd and killed before you even know whats going on, but if the hit strength of npcs/mobs was scaled to that value then the game would be more fun.
say with out armour or buffs your stats were 1000 HAM , and you attacked a ST on his own you know that your MASTER pistoleer can easily kill him, as it should be because you are a MASTER and he is an ordinary soldier npc, but what if theres a big squad of them 5 or more, then you should be running away, just like han solo, he might easily fight 1 and win but a whole squad, no way.
even the DWB bad guys black sun , the elite high end ones (not talking about the droids yet) should , on their own , be a little bit weaker(not in terms of HAM) than a master of an elite combat profession, simply because the players should be the heroes and be more powerful and skilled than any one npc (unless its a nasty dark jedi).
How pathetic are the droids in the movies ? the battle droids in ep1 dropped like flys, even sbd's should fall easily with the right weapon(LLC,rocket laucher granades, not a cdef )
i am hoping that the CU will not only nerf these npc's and get rid of buffs , but allow a MASTER (theirs that word again) droid engineer to build droidekas, battle droids and with a looted schem SBDs . that would be just as good as the freshly nerfed npc ones.
the only way this game will survive is if it evolves, and i really hope thats what happens with the CU and the GCW revamps( or whatever they are called today)
i don't like WoW or EQ2 , i have my reasons which i won't go into here, but the reason WoW is flying off the shelves and the server have too many players is becuase WoW is a slight evolution of the genre, blizard have learned from the MMO's that have come before and made a game that appeals to a lot of different people (apart from crafters from what i hear).
how does it appeal to so many people ? ... simple they have concentrated on fun , not grinding or work, its as tho the devs said whats wrong with EQ/soe games , and just looked at the forums, endless pages of people complaining (sometimes moaning, whining and bitching) about boring and unfair game systems, that force palyers to do things they don't want to (make doctors rich by paing them 15k+ for a buff because you need it to play)
i will bet around 80% of doctors got the skills just to make money , they have no interest in any other part of the profession, and most of them have never even crafted a buff pack. i agree that doctors need a source of income , but that income should not be so easily gained, if i were a master doc i could buy a buff pack and i could without doubt make a profit selling buffs outside coro starport, but if i were a ranger could i always be so sure of making a profit? may be because all the rich doctors need to buy avian meat at inflated prices
, this just goes to show how one skill in one profession can spoil the game for everyone, i have never seen a poor doctor, but i see poor BE's/DEs/CH/IDs/ents and even chefs ,
Why? because these people don't sell a product that is required to be purchased by 80%+ of the player base every day(and often more than once per day).
DON'T NERF BUFFS, DESTROY THEM

I can understand where you are coming from but its all a part of the economy. I make my buffs usually but lets just say for arguments sake that I bought mine. Average price for a decent full buffset, usually 120-180k so lets just say 150k for a good buff set with 30 charges. Now buffs usually go for 10-15k per person so lets just say 12k. 12kx30=360k 360k-150k=210k Now tell me that most people aside from new chars don't make at least 200k in a buff session? A lot of people claim to make up to 1 mil in a buf session but I doubt most do but back to my point...a doc can't really make much more if any more then a buffed person. Yes if a doc buffed for 3 hours straight one after another they might make a mil but generally there is at least one other doc buffing and there aren't always a lot of people needing buffs. As a master doc I have seen my sales drop after JTL and the wait time for shuttles dropped. I get bored of buffing people as well and I am sure most other docs do. I generally do a buffset and I am done. I would rather be out fighting myself. To your main point though, I think buffs are good. They help everyone, the docs, and the players. When I take my alt out, I don't buff him...too much of a pain trying to switch between screens. I go and get med buffed for 12k generally then I go and get entertainer buff 10k and then I go and earn about 300-400k. I am not here to rush through the missions, I do missions and kill things on the way so I could make more but that is enough for me really but that is minimum 275k proffit for me. I make more with my TKM/CH then I ever do with my Doc, not to mention alot of money I do make goes right back into buying supplies to make more. If you remove buffs, docs will be nothing more then a crafter and a waste of 2 skill trees...then people would stop being docs and there would be no stims or anything that people need...lets face it...if you aren't buffd you will need stims and the stims wouldnt be enough to make me waste 2 skill trees. Doc would end up like many of the other non-combat proffessions...dying. With all the changes and money to be made in combat related skills crafters are a dying breed. I hope they don't make Master Doc one of those. As far as other proffessions bein poor, my friend is an entertainer/image designer and she is never broke and she can't even do good mind buffs...she makes more as ID with 1021. She is always being bombarded with tells when she is wearing her ID tag and she gets alot of good tips while healing in the cantina. She also has a chef and makes excellent money selling the brandy, bivoli, etc. If you advertise your vendor and keep it well stocked, you will never go broke as a chef. My alt is a TKM/CH as I said before and I make excellent money with him. With the CH nerf, its not really a stand alone skill, you do need a combat skill to go with it but I make good money and my pets help me alot. BE's can make good money selling tailors enahnced cloths, selling BE additives to chefs, and making pets and stims. I spend anywhere from 50-100k on bio pets which seem to be better then the tamable ones and I go through alot of pet stims. Its hard for me to find pet stims actually. I am not sure about DE's too much since droids don't break down, they probably have a limited income but the other proffessions can be big money makers if advertised well and kept well stocked.

Hate to tell the guy but those of us that do charge 15k usually have to because the 2550 buff packs are at least 480k to 750k depending where u get it from, and i've never even hit the 2515 mark til yesterday, and that was just Action.
So a Half Million for buff packs and 12k is the least ill go with 2480 as every1 else is doing 2500s and im not, 13k 2490s and above, and 15k for 2500s because the buff packs cost over half a million credits.
So, if complainers do the math we barely get by with what we charge.
