I'd just like to say that I miss you docs since the CU. It wasn't until you were all gone that I realised how much your brought our space ports to life. I think I met more players in buff queues and cantinas than anywhere else in this game.

Now the star ports are all but deserted and the cantinas are just dusty shells.

Its sort of strange how when anything is really workingthey mess it up. Maybe they are under contract to the American government and its our behaviour that is being studied for the day when the real matrix arrives. After all nothing like these MMORGs has been seen before.

Any - thanks for all the fish and I hope you are all back soon.

The true doctors are still in the Starports and Medical Centers and Cantinas, all you're seeing now is the flavor of the month Doctors disappearing. I still proudly wear my pre-CU-even-being-in-development Master Doctor tag around.

Not trying to flame you here (and this is aimed more in general at comments I've been hearing than at your post specifically), but it's very insulting to us newer docs for those who already have master to be talking like this. I would much prefer to be in the med center where I feel I belong, but the only way I'm able to get medical xp so I can one day be a master doc myself is to be out hunting. This isn't my choice at all, and I'm doing everything I can to get it changed. /points to sig

For those of you who are already master doc, I'm sorry, but you have no idea what we non-master docs are now forced to deal with if we are to stick with this profession.

-Medical xp has been limited to combat.

-xp is split between combat skill xp, medical xp, and combat xpfor each kill, meaning those training in the medical professions can only gain the full amount of medical xp when they do not hit a target even just one time. Meaning you must be in a group (can't kill a critter by just healing yourself), and it's still next to impossible when as soon as you heal to get the xp everything tends to aggro you.

-The xp requirements were also raised to match the requirements of every other elite combat profession. I'd recommend that you go look at some of these other elite combat skills to see what amount of xp is required and be prepared to be shocked at how much it has increased. It's the exact same for doc now.

Getting master doc pre-CU was MUCH easier than it is now, even if you didn't use AFK tumblers and other tricks. I know this for a fact, because I started prior to the CU. I've actually experienced both systems.

So please just consider this when you talk about the profession. The devs did royally screw us newer docs over. Those who are already master docs don't have to deal with trying to get there, which is a lot tougher now than you think.

I am a pre CU Master Doctor and I do understand the major issues post CU Doctors now have. Mytwo biggest issues with changes to Doctoris the removal of exp for wound heals and the requirement for Doctors to be in combat to gain exp. To be honest I do not think that I could master doctor if I had joined after the CU, I just don't have that much time. There are a lot of Doctors trying to get our profesion fixed so we are once again useful.

You as a new Doctor have our support, particularly since the new rules are unfairly harsh on you. I have already sent in a suggestion to Sony that the Bacta Infusion be made a group buff and that the timer be extended to 1 min. Wheather they agree remains to be seen.

I suspect that there are a lot of requests and suggestions being sent in behind the scenes. The truth is you will not see many people posting on the Doctor boards because we feeltotaly ignored anddis-empowered. I for one will hang in there and continue to make suggestions in the hope that Doctors will be improved. I hope youdo the same.

Dapu, I am a vet Doc and believe me when i say that we hear and feel your pain.. i have have gone through the all the ups and downs with this profession and to be honest, on some cases, SOE gave us what some Docs/CMs complained about. There was a time that we could heal both in the field and in the Med Centers, there were flamers about that, then there were flamers about AFK tumblers, then, then, then, then, etc... bottom line.. be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it... best thing i can offer is a word of support and to have fun...

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - JULIO TORRES

Sometimes when I read a really good book I wish I could wipe my memory and read ot all over again but I can't.

I still remember pre CU, how the SOE asked for advice and ignored it, how dozens of forum correspondents spent hours of their own time feeding opinions to SOE only to be ignored. The jedi correspondent writes

"I have failed. Into excile I must go."

He didn't fail he was let down very badly.

I feel for you new docs because you haven't got a trade and you are forced into battles against your will. However you guys knew what you were signing up for - the old docs didn't so I feel for those guys too.

Thank you, Sun-chi. I didn't mean to come across that everyone that mastered doc pre-CU is horrible or anything, just that I'm getting a little sick of hearing some attitude from people saying that the newer docs aren't as good as the older ones. We're just as stuck in this new system as everyone else. So hope I didn't offend.

As you can tell from my sig, I'm planning on sticking with the profession and trying to make some changes that are very necessary for it. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that I will master the profession myself well before they make these changes. Between being able to respec some of my pistol experience over to doc (pistols is MUCH easier to raise while hunting, especially solo), and then a lot of hunting as a dedicated healer with my guild the past two nights during the double xp, I'm well on my way to mastering the profession from 2-2-1-2 pre-CU. I now have over 600k of the 1 million xp points needed for master after tonight. I know that if it weren't for the respec and double xp, though, I wouldn't even be close to this now.

That won't make me give up my quest to get these changes made, though. Obviously it isn't just about me since I almost have master anyways.I would justhate to see people that would like to be in the doctor profession for social and RP reasons leave the game because there isn't anything there for them anymore, or because they are forced into something that they don't want. Plus all the people that need their wounds healed.

The division between pre CU and post CU is less important to me than the dedication an individual has to this profession. The ridiculous xp grind awaiting the up and coming Doctors is a joke. Why penalize someone with a grind like that to obtain a broken profession? It is true a lot of pre-CU Doctors had it relatively easy. I recall a guildmate of mine bragging that he was able to master in 2 days for his holocron. He relied on AFK tumble grinding to obtain the title of MD and didn't know how to use any of his skills. Of course he dropped it for a different grind in a couple of days, so I didn't have to feel embarrassed for him long. I obtained nearly all of the medic xp I needed to master Doc through combat healing. Wound healing in camps made up a small fraction and buffing even less. It took me months to acheive my mastery but when I did I was (and still am) very proud of my accomplishment. Even with the time it took to reach master, I was still one of the first master Doctors on my server. This was before buffs became the common currency of the trade.A Doc was valued primarily for their ability to keep a group healed and alive in the face of the worst odds. Before the CU hit, this is what I thought was being returned to us. Today's aspiring Doctors face a terrible grind with some of the lowest xp returns of any profession. All to achieve a status as a tank with secondary healing abilities when grouped with any Jedi who dabble in the Jedi Healer field. The abilities they are pouring so much work in to attain are sub-par, ununique to their chosen profession, and riddled with bugs. The pre CU Doctors are people who merit respect. The profession they are learning is different from the one we perfected but in the long run if the old school Doctors continue to see the new way as the wrong way,it will be them and not us who are best at our craft. I must confess I bristle a bit whenever I hear
contentment from the new Docs at the state of our profession and fear that it will slow any future fixes, but this new disarray is all they know and they have worked hard to be a part of it and I cannot begrudge them that.
