The true doctors are still in the Starports and Medical Centers and Cantinas, all you're seeing now is the flavor of the month Doctors disappearing.I still proudly wear my pre-CU-even-being-in-development Master Doctor tag around.
Not trying to flame you here (and this is aimed more in general at comments I've been hearing than at your post specifically), but it's very insulting to us newer docs for those who already have master to be talking like this. I would much prefer to be in the med center where I feel I belong, but the only way I'm able to get medical xp so I can one day be a master doc myself is to be out hunting. This isn't my choice at all, and I'm doing everything I can to get it changed. /points to sig
-Medical xp has been limited to combat.
-xp is split between combat skill xp, medical xp, and combat xpfor each kill, meaning those training in the medical professions can only gain the full amount of medical xp when they do not hit a target even just one time. Meaning you must be in a group (can't kill a critter by just healing yourself), and it's still next to impossible when as soon as you heal to get the xp everything tends to aggro you.
-The xp requirements were also raised to match the requirements of every other elite combat profession. I'd recommend that you go look at some of these other elite combat skills to see what amount of xp is required and be prepared to be shocked at how much it has increased. It's the exact same for doc now.
Sometimes when I read a really good book I wish I could wipe my memory and read ot all over again but I can't.
I still remember pre CU, how the SOE asked for advice and ignored it, how dozens of forum correspondents spent hours of their own time feeding opinions to SOE only to be ignored. The jedi correspondent writes
"I have failed. Into excile I must go."
He didn't fail he was let down very badly.
I feel for you new docs because you haven't got a trade and you are forced into battles against your will. However you guys knew what you were signing up for - the old docs didn't so I feel for those guys too.
SWG will always be aminimally MORG until they begin to take theor customers seriously.
The division between pre CU and post CU is less important to me than the dedication an individual has to this profession. The ridiculous xp grind awaiting the up and coming Doctors is a joke. Why penalize someone with a grind like that to obtain a broken profession? It is true a lot of pre-CU Doctors had it relatively easy. I recall a guildmate of mine bragging that he was able to master in 2 days for his holocron. He relied on AFK tumble grinding to obtain the title of MD and didn't know how to use any of his skills. Of course he dropped it for a different grind in a couple of days, so I didn't have to feel embarrassed for him long. I obtained nearly all of the medic xp I needed to master Doc through combat healing. Wound healing in camps made up a small fraction and buffing even less. It took me months to acheive my mastery but when I did I was (and still am) very proud of my accomplishment. Even with the time it took to reach master, I was still one of the first master Doctors on my server. This was before buffs became the common currency of the trade.A Doc was valued primarily for their ability to keep a group healed and alive in the face of the worst odds. Before the CU hit, this is what I thought was being returned to us. Today's aspiring Doctors face a terrible grind with some of the lowest xp returns of any profession. All to achieve a status as a tank with secondary healing abilities when grouped with any Jedi who dabble in the Jedi Healer field. The abilities they are pouring so much work in to attain are sub-par, ununique to their chosen profession, and riddled with bugs. The pre CU Doctors are people who merit respect. The profession they are learning is different from the one we perfected but in the long run if the old school Doctors continue to see the new way as the wrong way,it will be them and not us who are best at our craft. I must confess I bristle a bit whenever I hear
