Not a doc myself obviously. After an extremely bad day trying to pound my way thru the last few missions before master pilot and an even worse day trying to get my frail artisan body and gimped droid past aggressive creatures clustered around my factories, I found myself wounded down to about 20% health. Yes, it was a VERY bad day. So, I flew to Coronet and ran to the medical center of this busy starport looking for some healing. No one in the med center. Went to Theed, same result. This was Saturday morning of a holiday weekend by the way. Logged out in the med center and came back after a couple days, still no docs in Theed nor Coronet. Still as of last night running around with 20% health getting one shot incapped off my bike by anything with a ranged attack.

After skimming some of your forum I see they removed the xp from healing wounds in a med center?? What the hell were they thinking? Yes, the afk macroers healing annoying poeple tumbling around the room was a pain in the ass, but dammit, the people need a way to heal wounds and you guys should be compensated for it with xp. There must have been a better solution!

Yup, getting rid of recursive macros would have been a good start, since that is what AFK play is relying on. Apparently just scrapping xp from healing anything out of combat seemed to be the easier solution, though.

Try your servers favorite spot for finding groups like the mining outpost on Dant is on Shadowfire.

The danger with the response I am about to give is that the Devs might really do what I will sarcastically propose. I promise to get serious at the end of this post.

What?! You were not able to get the wound healing cybernetic arm quest finished? Why worry about actually getting a doctor in a group when you have one person with the wound healing arm on and another with the revive arm?! We all know how much the game wants doctors out in the field, why should those doctors actually have to spend any skill points to do what we can only do at master doctor? Boy, if the Devs are willing to give away our master level skill, why not give away a novice level skill?! And better yet, why not let those with the wound healing arm be able to put that in their searchable profile? "Chimay Yfewrom the Ithorian Master Smuggler in Mos Espa (Wound Healer)"

Further, why not try the NPC doctors who attach the cybernetic limbs?! Just pay him or her 1 cred for every 5 wound points and "BAM!" Good to go again! We would not want doctors actually performing surgery and attaching limbsfor other players would we? I know the"Master Surgeon" exists as acharacter title, but weall know those really don't mean anything. (Sorry about putting this next rant into this forum, but I could not resist.) Just like we would not want smugglers actually moving unspeakable things to unknown places!

Seriously, when you see a doctor, ask him or her if you can put them on your friend list. Or just do it. Be polite, give them a tell, apologize for interupting their game, and see if they can give you a heal (tell them you will pay). Then make their lives easy and ask them where you can go to meet up with them. I did this for training. It worked out great and I made some new friends. If worst comes to worst they will ignore you or tell you they are busy. I think the great majority of the doctor community is great and they will be professional about it.

I don't know what server you are on, but on Wanderhome, put "Chimay" on your friend list and give me a tell if you need a heal. I can't promice that I will be able to drop everything atevery moment's notice, but I will be more than happy to heal if I have an hour (healing is slow, so I could not put "if I have a minute").

Glad to see someone who's not a Doc realize that we're not just crying. Our biggest complain is not money from buffs, we're not a bunch of greedy docs.

As for where the docs are...any doc in training (or medic) is in the field hunting since thats the only way to gain XP. As far as the other docs, some have respec'ed, some have quit, and then some like the rest of us are still out there...theres just not as many of us it seems.

First they took away my ability to support myself.

Then they made me waste gobs and gobs of time trying to find a hunting group that would stay together for more than 20 minutes.

Then they gave NPCs the ability to attach and detach cybernetics.

They took away medical XP for wound healing UNLESS you do it in combat.

If someone hates you that much you move to a different profession.

THAT'S where all the doctors went.

Updated my sig. As you can see, I don't frequent the main group-building spots, but I'll try that next and see if I can find a bored doc waiting for a group who is willing to stitch me up.

As a pre-combat upgrade Master Doc, who was thinking about returning, here is what happened to me. Logged back on after some months away playing WOW, some Everquest, etc, and returned to find I no longer recognized anything about my profession. All the buffs, woundpacks, etc that I had crafted from materials I had worked hard to gather and craft were now some new form of stims I couldn't even use on myself since my CL wasn't high enough? I could no longer where my armor I used to protect myself on gathering runs. In short There was a completely different game sitting on my computer that I had no interest in learning how to play.

I look at my master pistoller character, my master architect character, my master Dancer/Musician character, and the only one that looked remotely familiar was my entertainer. This is a completely new game, and I am sorry, I enjoyed the old game. Even though I had been away for months, I had still been paying monthly as I anticipated coming back, knowing there were changes coming. The changes however were so drastic that, I have now cancelled when my year I signed up for last summer is over. I am sure I am not alone, and wish SOE luck with their new game.

I am just entering the doctor profession post CU and though I hate it, I really wanted to be a doc and I am holding onto hope that they will fix what they broke so I can heal in a medcenter. I want to help people, not fight on a battlefield all the time. Please, please, please devs you would make my year if you could just make it so I can gain xp from healing in a medcenter. Oh and maybe make it so we can actually HEAL? That would be nice too......... /sigh

Do or do not do, there is no try.
And to show you how the Devs have lied:
"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, ?How can we do this and not make another EQ?? We didn?t want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we?ve created a system to make that happen."
