Thread: Need something to go with Master Doc

I've been playing since December, and just sometime back in March became Master Doc. But now I'm looking to reorganize my remaining skill points. Let me give you a brief recap of where I've been already, and where I'm thinking of going.

Where I've already been:

1) Started in December to be some kind of advanced Artisan

2) Got a holocron which gave me Master Bounty Hunter, and being a fool I allowed it to distract me.

3) Late February while I was BH 2/2/2/2 I finally said "I'm done with this Holo-crap", and promptly dropped BH

4) Became Master Architect

5) Became Master Doctor along with Master Architect

6) Became frustrated with my lack of creature harvesting skills, so I started dropping some of Architect

Where I am right now:

Master Doctor

Architect 0/4/4/0

Artisan 4/0/0/4

Brawler 0/3/0/0

Where I want to be:

Master Doctor

Artisan 0/0/0/4

Scout 2/0/0/0

Brawler 0/X/Y/Z

Part of an Advanced Melee Profession

I might settle for Artisan 0/0/0/3 once I find out more about the Survey food and if it can temporarily give me the skill of Surveyor. I don't plan to increase my Creature Harvesting skills as a good piece of Veghash will double my score from Novice Scout. I only plan to spend points in Scout for Mask Scent. I don't feel like doing a Ranged combat prof, I did that with BH. And I don't see TKA in my future, too many others doing it for my taste :-)

I started working up to Fencer, thinking that the Stun Baton would be really nice for PvE (remember, I'm doing this to harvest for myself). But now I'm starting to have second thoughts.

Anyone have a suggestion which of Fencer, Swordsman, or Pikeman is a good complement for Doctor, if all I want to do is kill creatures efficiently for harvesting? Please note that I won't be able to master the prof, at best I could maybe learn 2 complete branches.

Go for swordsman. I dropped rifleman for swordsman when I made master doctor. Fully buffed w/ a set 70%+ Ubese you can tank just about anything, even at low levels.

Swordsman has GREAT AoE attacks. This is key for fast harvesting. Use a curved sword for faster weapon speed. At 2-2-2-2 in swordsman, my 2hand Area Attack 2 special hits for about 500 per mob every 2 seconds.

Right now the Perleks on Lok are dropping 900+ avian meat and this is the techniqueI use on them. I get two missions, drive out and stand next to the lair, then spam the 2hand Area Attack special. It hits the lair for dmg, starts the mobs spawning, and aggros the ones already standing around. In 5 seconds you'll have a dozen atacking you. There's enough spawned for them to continuously heal the lair so you won't destroy it before you get all the mobs out.

When you're done w/ all the mobs and the lair, harvest at will. Usually theres so many corpses stacked on top of each other I have to spam-click the mouse while spamming my harvest meat macro to make sure I get all of them. W/ novice scout and just one box of explioration (which doesn't even affect harvesting), I was able to harvest over 2k of avian meat from 3 lairs. All this took maybe 15 minutes depending on distances of lairs.

What are the stats on your sword? At 0/2/1/2 sword I was hitting from 500-2300 using area attack 2.

Oh sure, I get the big hits in too. I was just guesstimating 500 per mob on average. We can always try to recruit people w/ the fact we can use 2hand Head Hit for upwards of 3k mind dmg, but I was trying to give him a resonable average dmg since all he was interested in was harvesting.

My sword has a damage slice on it so I think I'm averaging just over 1k per hit. One thing I like about sword over TK is that sword has less of a ham drain on it and the medium AP makes for good damage. Also with sword you get a choice of kinetic or blast damage but TK is limited to kinetic only. I've gone through the geonosian cave as TKM and can't wait to try it when I hit master sword now

Thanks for the Swordsman suggestion. I finished 2-hand 3 from Novice Brawler in 1.5 hours or less, now I'm past Apprentice and on my way to Novice Swordsman. Never had this much fun grinding combat before, and for a change I feel so effective!

I would suggest that if you are going to use any points inscout, you use them on hunting tree. exploration isnt really needed too much now that we have vehicles and the hunting will net you more meat that you'll need for your meds.

That is EXACTLY how I felt. I started as a marksman, and eventually mastered it. I started rifleman, but ultimately gave it up for swordsman. I think it compliments doctor extremely well.

Swordsman and doc all the way...

Nothing like standing in the middle of a mob, swing your hammer and watch them all take 4k+ damage.
