Hiya

Ok, so here's what I gotta do:

"This will be a research/writing/speaking project. You will select a topic, gather information, compile it into a well-organized, originally written, and legally documented paper. Then, you will present your research in an interesting oral presentation

Requirements:

  • 500 words (this does not include outline or bibliography)
  • typed and double-spaced, or neatly written
  • 6 well-developed, interesting paragraphs
  • original wording (ANY plagiarism will be subject to severe downgrading!)
  • attention getting introduction with thesis
  • developing points
  • outline
  • 5 credits
  • bibliography which includes three sources, two of which are non-encyclopedia print material
  • folder which includes notes (class & research), sources, rough drafts
  • proofreading
  • final perfected copy in proper order (Outline, Paper, Bibliography)
  • You must select a question for your introduction

  • Presentation

  1. attention getting introduction
  2. developing points that are interesting and well researched
  3. attention leaving conclusion
  4. one or two quotes
  5. no more than 30 words of notes
  6. strong eye contact
  7. expressive voice
  8. natural, not nervous, gestures

Ok, thats the project. Now, I have to do all that myself, but YOU can help. this is how:

The question I have selected is- "Is there a doc in the house?" I think that is perfect for SWG =) Now what I would ask you to do is, be a source of information for me. So i can use this thread as a source.

The information has to be about Star Wars Galaxies. I'd prefer mainly stuff about the doctor profession (i.e. how it affects the game, the players, etc.- or what are the best ways to grind it, what lvl doc gives the best buff, how doctor compares with combat medic, ups/downs of doctor, etc.) Basically anything along those lines would be appreciated.

Also if you have any ideas on what i could do with the project, I'd like to hear them. Ideas such as what info to put in, even what kind of info, what info to leave out, etc.

I would also like to hear what you think would be good for my presentation.

Please post any ideas you have!!

Thank you for your time and thoughts,

Rylet

Asa former doc...

Tell them the story of the +150 cpu avian meat and and the resulting jump in buff prices...

That would make a killer economics paper.. not much of an english paper but itsa start lol

And now as abuff reciever...

Or the lone 'Coronet Buffer' who has a line of 20 or more people.. and runs out of buffs in the middle of the line

LOL Doc was fun for the week or so that I had it.. You Master Docs are a dedicated bunch I'll give you that much

The first thing I would do is just read all the long threads on this forum. Here are some paragraphs for you.

1. Buffing for Cash. The how to make money. The economy side of doc.

2. Working with the public. The good, bad and the ugly.

3. How to get a heal for free from a doc. Being nice to a doc.

4. The crafting side of doc. Its an art that goes back to alchemy.

5. The combat doc. Tacktics.

What is your audiance? If they are not SWG folks then don't go into too much detail.

There are already great threads on each of these topics. The best stuff will be on the player interactions. Read the thread titled something like "top 10 things docs hate to hear" or something like that.

Im not positive, but I doubt the Internet will count as a "print material" for your bibliography, thus, I dunno where your gonna get all your refferenceable material from.

True. I see a lot of flames that are longer than 500 words.

No, the Internet doesnt count. But I can have one source that doesn't have to be printed.

Use the otherwise useless Official Strategy Guide and Official Quick Reference Guide. That's two quick no encyclopedia print sources.

What do you mean the internet doesn't count as a source. Sure it does. Ask any MODERN librarian. Citing internet sites is a growing aspect to research and it has its own rules for properly recording references. For example dating is very important as the information source can easily change from what it once said.

As for your question, Is there a doctor in the house. I can tell you that many times the rude player behavior drives us Doctors out of the public buffing business. On Monday I agreed to buff an overt Imp. I believe I was the only doc in coronet at the time (radient). A bit later I was murdered by a couple of Reb punks. One of who I had reciently buffed. After my death, I went on strike and left the long line of people waiting for a buff, all of whom said nothing to stop the attack on me, hanging with no doctor.

On Tuesday, I returned to buffing in Coronet. And fortunately had a very good day. I even had one of my killers stand in line for a buff and when he got to the front of the line I told him I had him on ignore and I would not buff him or his friend ever again because of thier actions on Monday. Guess it doesn't pay to kill of the public buffing doctor.

Of course I do accept some responsibiliy for the death since I did buff an overt. However, it is still very rude to kill a service provider with a line of people waiting for service. And I do reserve the right to refuse service to those who have been rude to me.

So if someday the last of the doctors are gone, The cause will most likely be the rude behavior by customers that take all the fun out of it.

Teachers can exclude wehatever they want. Internet isn't a print source (neither is interviews or movies.. though screenplays are). Part of it is quality control (webspace is free in the right places.. who knows what you got is accurate), the other half tends to be snobbery.
