It can certainly be harder to close a buff line than to start one. Whether running out of buff packs or simply needing to log off to go to bed, ending a buff line while people still want buffs creates a difficult situation for us doctors. I am interested in hearing how others handle this situation.
The best method I’ve come up with is as follows. When I decide to end the line I change my tag to eliminate the “are you buffing tells.” This also eliminates people finding the line based on a doctor search. Then I work out a deal with the last person in line. In exchange for free buffs I have them inform anyone coming up to the line that they are the last.
Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

I start up a macro that says " xxx is my last customer for the evening. Please find another doc for your needs" and displays it every 20 seconds.
If people stay in line. That is not my problem they fell of the short bus.

Thats basically what I do. I've got a macro that says, "Line is closed. Finishing those who have already paid. Thanks for your business." It repeats every 30 sec. I check my email log to see who the last person who paid was and I end it there. If others tip after that they lost their money, unless they can convince me that being an idiot isn't worth a 10k mistake. If people still ask for buffs I just tell them that i'm closed and to go find another doc. Recently i've been responding to the "Can I still get in line?" tells after I've closed the line with, "Sure, 100k for me to open the line just for you." You would be surprised how many will pay that.
Oh well.

I just turn off my MD tag and tell people who the last in line is...most people who are the last in line are helpful and reiterate that to anyone who comes in behind them...
If people get pissed at me for closing the line...screw 'em...I ignore and go about my business...it's always amazing to see the people who are the ingrates who get pissed at the doc...they get added to the ignore list forever....

I have tried the "buffing only the people that alreadypaid" line, but then i still get tips for the wrong amount frompeople just tipping hoping i will not notice and buff them anyways, so now i have turned to this line, "NO MORE BUFFS, IF YOU TIP ME I WILL KEEP YOUR CREDITS AND NOT BUFF YOU!"
I also use bank tips only and that way i can keep track of the costumers, when i am about to stop buffing i type "Line-XXX, XXXX, XXXXX, XXX, XXX,! If your name is not on the list, No Buffs, Sorry, I have to go!"
Then you'll get messages like "I know you have to go, but i'll pay you 30k for a buff please!" LOL
People love me there, even though it may sound a little harsh, i never have a problem with selling my buffs=)

I just wait till my line goes to a moot...try to get as many costermers as i can. that way its like i buffed them all so i pack up my driod
And go to bed/restroom or i just tip back everyones credits, pack up my driod Change my tital and hide then log out.
Depends on how urgent it is to stop the line.

I used a macro which informed people the queue was closed, going "Que now closed! Thankyou!"
Then someone pointed out to me its queue not que.
I felt so stupid

In the days when i used to buff the public:
I ALWAYS used a macro for this....
It would display the obvious, whilst also clearly stating that i WOULD buff the remainder of my current que list. Believe it or not, when i put the message up without that a few times: People would say "So, your not buffing me? Can i get my money back?"
At the point: This is the best method and an essential one if you wish to sleep

im grinding doctor on Starsider right now, and i plan to only buff guildies, and freinds, but i will occasionally log on after server resets to buff, as i know a lot of people NEED their fix at that time of day

I do the same, I look to see who was the last person in line and inform everyone that they are the last. I take off my MD tag and buff the remaining people in line. As others, I get those last minute tells asking for a buff, but the last few times I was buffing the public, another doc showed up so I just refered the customer to the new arriving doc instead.
But this /burstrun for the hills also seems like a nice tactic
