Hi,
I'm one of the few docs selling sets of packs on my galaxy, Infinity.
Problems are, that I sell out real quick, & have people buying other's orders.
I don't want to sell individual packs, as someone might come along & buy, for instance, all the Action buff packs ... leaving everyone else screwed, basically.
So, seems the way to go is to sell them in sets. If I put them on the vendor for general sale, in backpacks containing sets of 6 packs, or factory crates, say of 10 crated units of acton, 10 of health, 10 of constitution etc, the problem is that some few people would buy up my entire stock ... I'd rather it be spread out amongst larger numbers of customers.
This has left me going the custom order route ... using named backpacks ordered by mail, the named backpacks going on the vendor with a warning that only the person who ordered it should buy it. Sadly, people have transgressed, & bought order's with other people's name on them.
I've countered this using a dummy order system, only telling the person who ordered the sets of packs what order is his/her real one, & this has worked well ... I've banned a number of people from my shop, so hopefully those likely to buy other people's orders will gradually be filtered out. But, making up dummy orders, dealing with the resultant aggro, is a major hassle.
I'm wondering if it might actually be just as well to actually set aside an hour when I'll trade orders to the buyers, to mail those who've ordered from me, saying, meet me at my shop at 19:00 for instance, & just working thru the queue, trading away.
How are you dealing with this on your servers, anyone have any advice?
Iam.

I play on the Tempest server and usually used to buy buff packs from a med vendor called ISLE on Sin city on Dantooine. She had 3 vendors..one on which she would have sets (usually crated some would be crates of 10 and some of 5), one vendor with singles and one vendor with the elite stuff i.e. Janta blood in them. I think she has a nice system going. I don't know how much in merchant you have so 3 vendors may or may not work out for you. In the end, you should just go for what minimizes your work and maximises the use of the skills that you currently have. As Marrow1 said, unless you're a real jerk, your buff packs will sell pretty much no matter what.

When I first started I would sell crates of 5 in back packs with a 5 unit crate of bivoli. It got to be a real pain for various reasons.
1. I miss labled things.
2. Someone returned packs saying I had miss labeled yet the items they returned were not crafted by me.
3. As resouces shift it was hard to keep the sets matching.
I now just toss them on the vendor and let the customers deal with matching things up. I use the extra time to hunt more avian, gather more resouces, and craft. In the end, I am able to make more packs and keep more customers happy.
There comes a point when trying to keep customers happy needs to be balanced. You do need to make them feel wanted but at the same time you can not become a slave to them either. If you do you game time will become work.
As you become better know the special orders will drive you nuts. It is very hard to keep all the names, orders, etc organized.
There is such a high demand on buffs that you would have to be a real jerk to piss enough customers off that you dont sell packs as fast as you make them.
In the end my advice is to try to please most to the people some of the time. Remember that it is a game for you so play the crafter/merchant any way that makes you have fun.
