Thread: What am I doing right?

Hey all,

I've been collecting quality buff resources for a while yet, but have just been buying the packs until now. At last I've hit critical mass and plan to start making good packs, so I've invested in a crafting apron, some pyrolian cake, etc. I don't live in a research center but have been going to nearby ones and using the stations set up in their halls.

Can I just ask some moderately advanced crafting details, because I'm getting the same results (almost) no matter what I do...

Here's the test:

Making an Advanced Solid Delivery Shell

Dolovite Iron (Ourpauris): OQ 893 DR 789 UT 816
Domesticated Oats (Eobeu): OQ 912 PE 844 DR 286

I'm a Master Doctor.

Making it several times in a Research Center, with Pyrollian Cake, wearing a Medical Crafting Apron, I get a 24% on Assembly and can always experiment it up to 88% (Power 67).

Tried several times - could never get it above that on either the assembly or experimentation.

In different tests, Ididn't useout the cake, the apron and/or the research centre... and got pretty much the same result every time. The only difference is that occasionally I'd get a failed experiment, which meant I didn't get to 88% - but that was uncommon. Very occasionally I wouldn't get 24% on Assembly, but that's rare.

So... my question:

  • Is this maximum value (88%) for the experimentation unbreakable?

  • Is it based on the Effectiveness of the resources (EFF = my term for total score: 893 for the Dolovite and 880 for the Oats - averaging 885 or so, which would make 88%)?

  • The fact that I do well even without the research centre, apron and cake - is that because my resources are good and therefore luck plays a lesser role? Or are these boosters only minor anyway?

  • At the end of the day, do I take it (with the exception of adding to your experiment points, which is done by Bespin Port and a Crafting Apron) that the boosters you get are for your rolls and don't affect the maximum limit... so if you're planning to make a schematic and can craft and craft and craft until you get it right, all that the boosters really do is give you instant success without the risk of a few lesser results along the way: they don't actually improve the finalschematic if you're patient(again, with the exception of anything that gives you your 2 extra experimentation points).

Obviously your Experimentation counts for much more when there's more than one branch to experimient in (unlike Advanced Solid Delivery Shells, where I always have a few unused - so maybe this isn't such a good test subject), but I just want to check that I'm on the right track. Hate to have all this cake and not eat it too.

Cheers,

88% is the cap with the resources and componants your using to craft these packs.

Even with 12pt it doesn't change.

Bespin or cake doesn't help the initial roll or final experimentations...

Even in crafting buffpacks.. Bespin only helps meto get an amazing in my last two points which are usually used for either medical use or charges.

Being in a research center doesn't help the final experimentations.

If these are the two best spawns of oats and dolovite iron on your server, there's no real room for improvement then

Baron,

If you haven't already, have a look through the doctors crafting FAQ foudn on swgmedics.com (stickied on the top fo this forum as well, I think). The answer to your question is in those pages if you read it carefully. There is also a buffcalc tool that will calculate the power value that you can expect from all subcomponents given the stats on the ingredients (in the stickies).

Now to answer your question...

The 88% cap is calculated from the stats of your ingredients based on the formula defined on the aSDS schematic. Since the Dolovite does not have a PE, all three present values count equally in determining your cap. The FAQ goes into a lot more detail on how to evaluate resources, it sounds like you have spent some time gathering very good resources so I think you probably have a fair grasp on that.

In short - those aSDS seem pretty good. Go ahead and use those, but always keep your eye on swgcraft or iootnega in case something better spawns.

while on Flurry, don't visit Ojes Yobe's Liquidation Vendors just 800M from Theed starport on Naboo (neg5219 3419) - cause they ain't there anymore! They are now exclusively located in Mos Athens Mall
