Thread: Skill Tapes (?) Bonueses to Med Experimentation? Newbie Questions herein.

Seems they're rare loot drops by powerful npcs ... I've hardly any combat skills, & have n't found any on vendors on my server (Infinity), tho I'm making the cash to afford them (saw a +5 tape for CM experimentation for 150k yesterday).Iam.
Hi, since no one answered I thought I'd chime in.
Yes, the skill tapes work similiar to the way a power up works on a weapon. You drag the skill tape onto the piece of armour/clothing and presto!
I believe there is a cap, though I'm not sure what it is.
Where to get them? Heh, that's the hard part. I don't know. They sell for insane prices though.
Yes, they drop onto to clothing and then wearing that peice of clothing will add that bonus to your skills. People have said that add ons, whether from BE stat clothing, skill tapes, rare loot drops, or whatever, can never increase beyond a total bonus of 25 in a particular skill (showing a bonus of above 25 on the skill page is apparently a display bug). They do not stack together in the same peice of clothing, only the highest skill mod per peice will operate, so put each skill tape in different peice of clothing. And, obviously, leave your clothing at home, don't risk it getting decayed any.
Acquiring them will be tough. Typically skill tapes are found off hard-to-kill Npcs like high level tuskens, aukaans, and nightsisters. Some times you will find a weird item with skill mods instead of a tape or attachment, the name of these rare loots will be in yellow in your inventory, rather than the standard white, so if you loot some odd thing like a pair of gloves, bandolier, or helmet (I've even seen weapons with non-combat modifiers on them), make sure you examine before destroying.
You can buy them, of course, but be prepared to pay lots of credits. Millions, even. Many millions for one with more than a modifier of 1. Your best bet is to keep checking the Trade Forum for your particular server (accessed from the SWG home page). People regularly run auctions for skill attachments they have looted. I keep an eye out for them myself, but so far every auction has run way beyond my credit limit.
Hey boys, DO NOT PAY those idoiotic prizes for tapes - go to a certain location on rori, which is called BORGLE LAIR.
The beasts within have hardly a HAM of 1 k and are defeated with inferior skills, yet I looted from the "loose debris"-chests (6 of them use the 3 at the end and the one in the sideway) some tapes with even +9 modifiers. I have done this for 1 day and now I have about 30 tapes, though ony half of them have modifiers greater than 3.
