I am sure this has been brough up before but as a new MD I am finding many inventory problems.
the amount of meds we have to carry is sometime absured.
6 wound packs
4 state heals
1 disease heal
1 posion heal
6 BUff packs
1 stimpack
for a whopping minimum of 19 in our inventory.
Add clothes, armor and weapons and we really get the short end of that?
any suggestions?

What I used to do was hotkey one of each med then place it in a backpack, along with crates of the most used ones just in case I were to run out.

Get a backpack and make good use of the bank safety deposit for lesser used items that you don't need in the field.

I just bought a droid(R2-D2) type. Great for crafting on the fly, and has storage for 10 items.

I keep a lot of my wound heals in one of my backpacks. Do these need to be unpacked in order for me to use them? Or do I just have to have the backpack equipped?

Yeah I just use the healwound command as I find it easier. Ah well, I'm there to heal wounds, I can make room in my inventory for em

Don't forget your rez kits.
However those can be in your backpack and the system will locate them automatically. One thing that has helped me out is to use Stim and Wound pack E's for more charges. That way I only need to carry one of each if they have 60-70 charges. I have a crate of 61 charge Stim-E's in my backpack, and those will last me quite a while.

You don't have to have it equipped. You can have a Woundpack in your main inventory, drag it onto the toolbar, and even if you drag the Woundpack into a backpack afterwards, the toolbar will still know which Woundpack to use.
However, if you use the /healWound command rather than manually clicking on the Woundpacks, it will not work unless the Woundpack is in the inventory. The /healWound command will not recognise that you have the packs unless they are in your main inventory.
Well, last I checked anyway
