iv read all the moans on here but i thought i might as well have ago

having just made my most powerfull packs of 820 (litrally 10 mins ago) i got a friend to come over so i could try them.. so powering up my droid and wearing my bio enhanced closhs i buffed... wooooo i got 1100 how dissapointed was i - VERY! so i then used one of my old pack with a power rating of 640 odd and i buffed him for 2.4k lol, so i used another 840 pack for another buffs and got a massive 1672 again i was slighly annoyed.. so i then buffed the rest of his stats with packs that havepower values of710 and they were all 1.9k to 2.2k.

im beginning to think this is some osrt of sick joke being played on me (us) and im wondering if i should bother looking for top end materials and paying over the odds to by them if my buffing is on this evidence going to be worse then normal!

Just a few tests like this isn't going to show you anything. Buffing is just too random.

Keep getting the best materials and make the best enhancement packs and you WILL get better buffs. Not every single one of them will be better, but you can't make it over 3000 with a 640 pack.

ehehe no true but i dont expect to make over 3k packs with 640 tbh but i did think that maybe with higher powered packs the range at which it buffs would have might have a slightly higher bottom value if you know what i mean

The higher powered packs DO have a higher "bottom" value. However, as long as the packs are remotely close, there will be overlap. Take these packs as an example, a 650 pack and an 800 pack. I'll assume this is being used by a master doc in a medical center with no BE clothing (the results would be the same if these things changed, but this will make the calculations easier).

Everything is based off the following formulas:

  • Average Buff = LOCATION_RATING * (100 + WOUND_TREATMENT_SKILL)/ 100 * PACK_POWER

  • Min Buff = 0.5 * Average Buff

  • Max Buff = 1.5 * Average Buff

So, let's start with the 650 pack:

  • Average Buff = 1 * (100 + 100)/100 * 650 = 1300

  • Min Buff = 0.5 * 1300 = 650

  • Max Buff = 1.5 * 1300 = 1950

Now, if we look at the 800 pack:

  • Average Buff = 1 * (100 + 100)/100 * 800 = 1600

  • Min Buff = 0.5 * 1600 = 800

  • Max Buff = 1.5 * 1600 = 2400

As you can see, the 650 pack has a range from 650-1950 while the 800 pack has a range from 800-2400. So, it is quite possible that the 650 pack will give you a few buffs that are better than those given by the 800 pack. However, the 650 pack will also give you some buffs that are lower than any you could get from the 800 pack while the 800 pack will give you some buffs that are better than you'd ever get from the 650 pack.

In general, even though buffs are very random, you'll get better buffs from better packs.

Absolutely. You want the higher range. When you buff, you're rolling the dice for your customer, and you want every bit of buff power available.

If you buff with 600 base packs, you're going to get some low clunkers. At least with 800+ packs and all the proper equipment, you have a better chance of staying above 1k. 1k is still a buzzkill after throwing down a 3k enhance, but at least it is 4 digits... Nothing makesmaster Docsgroan like athree-digit enhance.

OK I know guessing against a random number generator is stupid.

But, after I give a couple good hits, I pause longer and do a wound heal or damage heal on myself or a nearby target hoping to absorb the 'dud'. It doesnt always work, but In many cases it seems to help.
