If I continue to use 90 med use packs over 900 qualitywith 25+ wound treatment clothing and I drop master doc and the crafting tree ( I need points badly) how much of a drop should I expect to see when buffing? Right now I average between 1100 - 3400 which is just insane but thats in other threads.

Should I expect my min to lower or just the max to come down?

Both. Basically, my dropping master doc, you instantly give up 25% of your enhancement power. You'll see your min drop 25% as well as your max. Your wound treatment bonus is used to calculate how well you buff. Master docs get a nice +25 to that skill.

The +25 bonus equals the +25 it's possible to get from bioclothing... Test results without bio-clothing as master, and you'll see what your buffs will be without master doc (theoretically, at least )

so if I drop master doc and still wear the 25+ wound treament hat I have I'll still be pulling 100% of the possible and with a 110 med raiting droid that would mean I should still expect to buff for more then 990 on every buff right? or am I missing something

it isn't really a matter of if I'm gonna do it, I like hunting more then I like healing and if I drop just the crafting tree I can still revive and cure disease and poison with 90 med use right and I can pickup the harvesting tree which is pretty important if trying to earn a living at selling meat and hides

sorry posted before I saw the second response... so its only +25 the amount of the buff or is it +25%? I'll run some tests tonight, problem is buffing is so insanely random that getting a valid test will be hard as ****

+25 Wound Treatment equates to +25% on the power of your buff. Here's a rough formula that seems to approximate the buff range quite well:

Avg_Enhance = [LOCATION_RATING] * (100 + WOUND_TREATSKILL) / 100 * PACK_POWER

So, let's say you're using a 110% droid, +25 med use clothing, and a pack with a power of 800. Your average buff would look like this:

Avg_Enhance = 1.1 * (100 + 125)/100 * 800 = 1980

Now, if you drop master doctor, you'll be down 25 points in wound treatment, so your average buff will look like this:

Avg_Enhance = 1.1 * (100 + 100)/100 * 800 = 1760

So, your average enhancemtn would drop a couple hundred points, at least. The other thing to keep in mind is that, in order to use Enhance D packs without Master Doctor, the Med Use requirement must be brought down. Due to that, not all experimentation points are being put into power, which brings down the power of the pack slightly. It sounds like you're already using packs with 90 med use, so this wouldn't be an issue for you, but it's something to consider.

Thanks, any idea on a forumla that describes the randomness? going from 1100 on one buff to 3300+ is a tad extreme. will reducing my doctor level reduce the huge variance? I can live with pulling 1900 on every buff... what I can't stand is getting 1100 in action and then 3000 on strength when the packs have the exact same level, time, everything is the same.

I would happily drop my average down to 1700 if I could actually get right around that on every buff instead of the massive extremes

You're still gonna have a huge variance, it'll just be a lower low and lower high.

Yeah, it's all in the FAQ.

Also, one note is that, the more powerful your buffs, the greater the variance. The more you stink at buffs, the more consistent you'll be.
