Give doctors a way to keep Master Doctor and a Master Combat profession and maintain a way to survey and/or harvest the resources we need to craft. Before I left the game a month ago, I spent hours developing a clientele and helping out novice scouts who in return helped me since I often refused to pay more then 30cpu.

Selling buffpacks was profitable enough to continue doing it but when you get screwed over by spending hours harvesting scrawny vir vurs on talus because of the time:money relationship most people have, then you know it's time to take a break from the profession and/or game. If I ever do come back, unless they nerf non-master crafting I see no reason to remaster doctor when I can go 4440, 0440, or 0444 depending on how many skill points I need to free up to get Novice Scout alongside Rifleman.

Aight, I'm outta forums as of tonight for a while. Enjoy the profession guys. Later

Master Doctor + Master Rifleman + Novice Scout = 247 Skill Points.

Master Doctor + Master Pistoleer/Carabineer/Rifleman/TKA/Swordsman/Fencer/Pikeman + 0001 Artisan = 249 Skill Points.

Did I miss something here? I just jump between Scout and Artisan when I need different resources. As a combat prof it's very easy to get enough scouting XP to get Hunting I, and as artisan... well, Surveying I isn't really needed anyway. Or you could always Medical Forage.

I can't believe they still haven't nerfed this yet.

/medicalforage has been the biggest joke rivaled only by the melon nerf.

Well before I quit I did manage to get +10 Medical Foraging for 600k. I guess my problem as a Doctor was that I was always juggling MD, CM, Rifleman, and Scout/Artisan. I hear there is a new survey droid coming out which should eliminate the need for artisan (except that I won't be able to run a vendor). While the skill system is supposed to encourage teamwork I still think that being a Master Crafter still relies too heavily on others. For the amount of time I invested on developing a reputation the ROI was pretty low until near the end of my "career".

The survey droid will only give stats on the resources on that planet I believe, not waypoints to highest location. Novice Artisan will in other words still be needed.

I suggest you use it. It gets you a sample of each half decent organic on a planet in less than 10 mins. Try surveying/sampling as an artisan.

My advice - make a medicalforage macro. Run it, go get drinks. Move char 500m, **edit** to loo.

Come back and find maybe 15 resource samples in your inventory and pick which ones are worth going after.
I just wish it would get a sample of specific medical resources too. Like Talus water or dolovite iron.

I think it was mentioned that the droids require some kind of certification so you still need Artisan. For example the creature harvesting droid requires you to have Novice Scout.

Well I paid well for waypoints so I never needed Artisan except to grind merchant to get a vendor, but apparently illegal vendors are being nerfed soon anyway. As far as scout, the +30 veghash that came out was nice but still 15 skill points I could of used elsewhere. So I guess it's just the way the game was designed.

Well I finally cancelled my subscription and the renewal was last night. I also haven't played the game in over a month. When I wrote this post I mentioned a couple things I would like to see in the future regardless of feasibility or game dynamics that were probably my biggest issues with the profession. I never bothered with an alt and didn't have any major ranger partnerships; and getting enough avian per shift and keeping MD was always a kicker and a waste of time.

I also made a post a month ago concerning the advantage to beinga Master Doctor since I was 0244 and buffing for 2-3k, which they've since fixed. As of right now, the only benefit to Master Doctor that I can see is the substat enhancement pack schematics and higher buffs. When I come back I'll probably get it again to make some crates of 90MU packs along with a crate of everything else and then drop to 4440 (drop crafting) or 4244 (keep crafting to make money). The meat is just a pain in the ass to get especially when some rangers are charging 30+ cpu.

Hopefully when you come back they will have enhanced the ranger profession to increase the harvesting dramatically.. should drive down the prices of the organics I would think..
