Thread: What do you do with those people who are in line but are not around when it is their turn?

I had this happen to me last night. I was the only Doctor at the mining outpost on Dant and had a line 10+ deep. I had a list of people in line and let everyone know where there place was in that line. It came time for this one guy to get his buffs, yet when I called his name, he was no where to be found. I did a quick scan and found him in a nice heated discussion with some other people there at the starport. I yelled his name again to let him know he was up.

Not wanting to upset my other customers, I went to the next person. This guy did not come back until I had buffed 6 more people! He proceeds to get pissed and calls me a few choice words. He stated, "**edit**...I was ahead of all of these people!" I proceeded to tell him I called his name a few times with no response. He said he was standing right next to me the whole time....if you had been standing there, you would have seen your name come up. He proceeds to cuss me out a little more, to which he became the very first person to go on my ignore list.

So I ask you, was it wrong of me to skip this gentleman and proceed down the list?

I'm not working the area of Doctor that lets me buff but I am a Commando and as someone who frequently stands in these lines *sigh I can tell you that you did everything you could. The guy wasn't paying attention so he got what he deserved. I'm usually getting buffed with a friend of mine and if we have to go afk for a minute and we're close to the front one of us skips the other and even lets the Doc know that the other is away. There have been times when I've also paid for both our buffs so there wouldn't be an issue. If he wasn't paying attention he loses out. Its not the DMV, its a buff line. You miss your number, get another one. My 2 cents.

If they don't respond when I tell them it's their turn and ask for payment then I go on to the next person in line. If they're polite when they come back then I'll buff them next. If they want to be rude then they won't get any buffs.

same thing i would have done, just bump them down the list till they bother to show up, if they bother to complain tell them to go find another doctor and welcome to ignore.

I have gone to the point of actually giving junk buffs to the guy that has cussed me out for skipping them...

its thier own fault they were not available when their time came...

if its a stright line they just sorta naturally fall back in line. Most of the people behind them knew they were there first and dont mind once they come back to let them continue from their now correct slightly farther back spot

IMO your only mistake was not /addignoring him at the first sign of choice words. I'd have added "Enjoy your trip back to coro for buffs" or something to that effect. I often found buffing the next person in line was a great way to gee up slow tippers.

In all the time I have been buffing, this is the FIRST person who has ever acted rude towards me. As for sending a tell to the guy, not gonna happen. The way I see it, they need the buff from me and if they are not smart enough to sit around me then too bad soo sad.

I don't need the money...I have plenty. I like to buff cuz I get to interact with a lot of people and I enjoy healing people. Before I became a doc and got buffs, I never left the line until I got buffed. If I did lose my place, I certainly wouldn't gripe about cuz it is my own d*mn fault!

I was in Coronet once buffing people. At the time there was a bunch of spamming going on all around. I decided to try the ignore feature to filter out the spam, and it worked great.

Another thing I should mention is that if you come walking up to the croud I am buffing and stop for a second, I add you to my list for buffing.

Anyway, I am buffing a huge crowd of people and come to the next guy on my list. I say his name and I get no answer at all, and no movement either. I can see him, but no acknowledment at all. So I go onto the next guy on my list. After about 45 minutes I see him actually move a little. So I say his name again a few times, and nothing again.

Then a few minutes later I notice other people in the crowdtalking about how this guy is yellingabout being there for like an hour, and I have not buffed him yet. Another guy is saying that I am one of the nicest docs he knows.

At this point I am thinking what is going on here? Why are these people talking about me in 3rd person when I am right here in front of them.

Then I say whats wrong? Another guy says that this guy is yelling at me and has been for like a half an hour. I tell him that I have been trying to get his attention for quite some time, but have gotten no acknowledgment whatsoever from him. I even say his name again and ask him if he is ready. Still nothing, and I say "See, he will not answer me."

Then they all start saying that he is saying something, and yelling that he has already tipped me and been there longer than anyone here now. At this point I look at my ignore list and find his name there. He must have been one of those people spamming when I first got there.

I appolagized and buffed him, then refunded his money for my mistake. He was cool about it and even tipped me the money back again.

That was a funny day.
