Thread: My idea for making Med centers active again.

I think that the doctor nerf, among other things, has caused NPC and player cities to empty out more and tobecome less immersive, namely in med centers. We need to get people back into the med centers to have tofind docs and medics to heal their wounds and to get medical enhancements. A way that we could get more docs to stay in med centers, (instead of them relying on rare and meager tips) is to have them "sign on" as part of the center's staff for however long they wanted to work there.

This is how i see it working. Docs walk into a med center and up to a staffing terminal, sign on as an active doctor at the center, and wait in a certain area. There would be rows of tables in the center, so when an injured person walks into the center, they walk up to a table, click a radial menu, and lie down on the table. This activates the system to call the next available doc to that table to tend to the person until they are healed. Then the doc has to wait in line for the other docs to get a chance to heal before he can go again (in a bustling med center, docs wouldn't have to wait long, like real life docs.)Docs and medics would not be allowed to heal anyone in a centerunless they have been assigned to do so, preventing eager docs from running up and healing people they aren't supposed to. Docs and medicswould recieve med xp each time they heal, as per the former system, causing new medics andprogressing doctors to want to stay in the center. The system keeps track of how many heals the doc performs, and when the doc leaves duty at the center, he is payed on a per-heal basis, getting a higher rate for having more doc skill boxes. Patientswould not be required to pay for their treatment (to help new players) so for RP purposes the med centers would be public and the docs pay would come from "the city". To compensate them for the time that they are just standing there waiting for patients to walk in, they could get a relatively small fee for just being on duty, but not enough for people to want to exploit it. The rate the docs recieved would be enough for them to make a realistic living, yet not enough for them to get very rich, as not to upset the system with another credit faucet.

Too complicated. Just go sit in a Starport.

That's exactly what adds to this game being less immersive. If we can make people actually want to spread out into cities, instead of clogging up the starport entrances, cities will seem more real and people will remember why they started playing this game, to live in an accurate Star Wars universe.

The more you play this game, you'll find it less and less accurate as time goes on. Would your idea be cool? Hey, it'd be neat. I'd even give it a shot a few times. Would the DEVs ever implement something like this? No. It requires actual work instead of just modifying pre-existing code.
