You get Medic Experience for healing an ally (groupmate or yourself) that takes during damage during combat. You have to heal before the creature dies to get the experience.
Since Doctor is a Combat profession... you guessed it. Group up and go hunt. It's fun.

In a group the med xp just flies. Not any more difficult than getting weapons xp in a group.

I joined in a group with a jedi of my guild, he took on entire bol lairs while i healed him. This way the jedi doesn't have to divert force to using hown healing systems and you get very good xp in a short time.
In lack of a jedi a nice cl 80 group tank makes for good healing
