Thread: Template for a PvE Doctor?

Alright well, so far I've attempted Rifleman with Doctor and I can honestly say the Melee Defense for Rifleman is WAY too low. I get chewed apart even with Full 80% Composite Armor. I think it's like 2.5 modifier. Which means any attack is multiplied by 2.5 if I'm holding a rifle. Which sucks bad!

So as much as I hate any Brawler skills, I think I may have to take it just to survive until the CU.

Now my question is. I'm 4/4/4/2 Doctor, I'm thinking about trying to be different from everyone else and not chose TKA......but seeing these guys solo everything and dominating anyone in PvP it's kinda hard not to. So which of the Brawler trees should I dabble with?

Almost every combat proff goes nicly with Doc, the favs seem to be Swordsman, TKA and Rifleman. Swordman fairs well in PvP and excells in PvE probally one of the best PvE templates you can have. TKA for the tanking and versitility. Rifles because most Docs have nice big mind pools which compliments Rifles plus Conseal shot is awsome in PvE. All the others also fair well with doctor pistols/carbines/fencer/pikeman I would pick the proff you most like as Doc with anything is a great combo.

Something is wrong here. If you take Rifleman then you should not be getting into melee. With conceal shot then there is no reason to get aggro'd unless you try for too big a prey and take too many shots hence increasing the chance of a bleed. The only thing I would say is that mask scent really works with a rifleman, especially when grinding, so that you can move around aggressive beasties to pick your target without getting aggro'd.

Yes, things can and will go wrong so that on occasion you'll be getting into melee, in which case you've got your doctor skills to help you out.

Also loose the comp unless planning to take non-kinetic damage, ubese will give you the same level of kinetic protection whilst having far less effect on your HAM.

Tar

hahaha, yes..... my doctor used to be a TKA, and is on his way to rifles because I do have a big mind pool and I like to stay awayfrom combat in PVE cause i'm the healer so being in the front doesn't make sense.

and my alt...... is a swordsman, not master yet but getting there. i like him because i can go out and kill 50 perleks in about 30 seconds with some nice area attacks... i'm not even using the powerhammer yet, still using the 2-hand curved sword because the damage per second is higher and i'm a personal fan of getting to attack more often for less damage than less often for more damage (in case of missing your target).

anyways trying them all out for myself, i'd have to say the most fun and exciting combat profs is definately swordsman. i got 450k exp last night (i was 0311) to get my 4th box for the +15 speed, and my next combat box, putting me at 0412. i did this in about 2 hrs. rifleman is nice, i'm 4213 in rifles, but going out on your own is boooooring with rifles, take cover, conceal shot over and over, just sitting there waiting, hoping they don't 'realize' you're there, cause if they do then you're in pointblank range, and it takes FOREVER to kill whatever is attacking you.

I love my swordsman/doctor template. In my opinion, its the best PvE template out there, and is pretty good in PvP if you know how to use it. Just my 2 creds.

Yea normally the general concensus is that Swordsman/Doc is the best PVE template. It can do nicely in PVP also.

I was Master pike/brawler/tka and just changed it too

Doc 0 4 4 0 ,just to buff myself, the most time consuming thing was looking and waiting for buffs.

Master Pikeman

TKA 0 3 0 4, just to add some defenses for my pikeman.

I tried all melee professions, pikeman was the only one i liked since i started it, it may not be the best pve but for meit is the most

fun combat profession. The disadvantage is the loot pikes, you really need to spend alot of time killing nightsisters for good pikes.

Whenever you see a nightsisters elder, it is time to run, unlike swordsman who kill them.

Correct me if I get something mixed up, but here is what I've tried out and what I've noticed that can go with Doctor. I haven't tried all the possible combat professions with Doctor, but I have tried a few.

  • TKA - High damage per second, good defenses, meditation to heal wound (including mind). However, only having kinetic damage type is restrictive.

  • Fencer - Lower damage output, but high on defense. Really more suited for PvP in my opinion if you have a good stun baton.

  • Swordsman - Makes up for lack of defense with overpowering offense. Blast is a good damage type to have in PvE. Good mind bleed hits.

  • Pistoleer - Probably the highest choice of damage types to pick from (heat, acid, energy, stun, etc...). Good defenses, but low on damage output. Can make up for low damage with bleed shots

I really have fun playing with my swords doc. The defenses might be lower in some areas, but that is why he is a Doc. Oh, and there aren't many mobs who can survive long enough to pose a threat anyways.

Currently im TK-0444 and tried pistoleer before.

You have to be 6m away from your friends if you dont hunt alone so any brawler or pistoleer works well with doctor.
