Thread: My question to current docs with regard to the CURB

I've been thinking of the Doctor profession and its revised role in the game with the CU. It's going to be a combat profession. The crafting is being removed from it and dumped onto another crafting profession (I assure you, most BE's are quite upset about all of this). Your only form of xp will be from combat. Bla bla bla bla bla. Now I read the reasoning behind this and I have to ask myself, are they just going to remove CM from the game? I mean, that's what it sounds like to me. Isn't combat medic supposed to be the combat profession after all? Aren't they meant to be the healing support to combat types needing it? Don't guilds take CM's with them to dungeons like the DWB for their area heals? I know I enjoyed their use when I did phase 3 melee accuracy quest.

I'm sorry to say it doesn't make much sense to me.

I would ace more squadrons if they'd just fix the remaster bug.

The devs decided that docs within SWG are combat, so they're combat. SHOULD they be combat? Well that's up to each individual's opinion. I'm perfectly happy healing/buffing/crafting as a doc, so losing two of those and being told I'm not supposed to be a healer only kind of kills the profession by 2/3, the way I interpret the CU. However others view it differently so we disagree abit.

In the end it's what the devs want.

One of the few aspects of the CU with which I don't have a problem is the decision to get docs more involved in combat. Take a look at our skills in the current system (revive, healstate, cure poison/disease) and it's pretty obvious that we were always intended to have a role healing in combat. With the CU there will be some overlap of healing skills between doc and CM (even more than there is now), but the professions will still have important differences. The CM profession has offensive abilities while doctors have the counters to those abilities. I have always supported the concept of a doctor as the anti-CM, and the CU is keeping that relationship. I just wish it had been implemented in a way that fits the Star Wars universe and didn't trample all over a playstyle that many of us loved (no I'm not talking about buffing or crafting).
