what can a Master Doctor do that a Combat Medic can't? There seems to be so many people dropping doctor now and I was wondering that with fewer of them around, there might be a demand for them...

If by demand U mean having the means to buff and all..better not.

If by demand you mean having a viable profession that can assist in combat then you should.

just my views of course...

Docs can buff and heal wounds, thats all they can do that combat medics cant.

Concerning buffs: Most people think they are hardly worth the effort, and if they are, you just need the box that grants the ability and no higher boxes, since only duration increases with doc level.

Concerning wound healing: Novice doc is all you need.

I myself can buff and mostly forget about it currently because I hardly notice any difference in combat. The combat speed buff seems to be the most useful one.

Well, a doc can heal the same way a CM can, the only different heal that CMs don't get is Heal Over Time.
Also, docs need to pretty much be really really close to their allies in order to heal effectively, Combat Medics can heal from range. Other than that the healing power of both professions is nearly the same, with the upper hand on docs in my opinion, that's if you enjoy chasing your target.

The real difference comes with the non-healing abilities. Doctors can buff, buffs help a little bit, they are nice to have but not necesarry, but for certian it makes things a little bit easier. Your buffs are a combat haste (speeds up attack), Action Regeneration, Mind regeneration, HP Boost, and 2 state resists, poison and disease.

Doctors also get cures to all states in game. For PvP this is good, as Doctors can heal all the mess the CM do to your allies.

So while combat medics have offensive abilities, Doctors get deffensive ones. It all comes down to what you want to do.

After the CU, I found myself looking into either CM or Doc. I'll tell you the#1 thing that helped me decide on Doc over CM... skill points. When looking at what I could do with my template, I found that those 15 skillpoints wasted on Novice Marksman could be better spent elsewhere. I'd recommend when making the CM/Doc decision, you do the same and see how many SP you need to use and where you want them spread out (of course, if you're going to already have Nov Marksman, it won't be a big difference).
