Im just wondering because currently i cannot decide, so ive decided maybe ill just take up both, i love the enchances from doctorand i love poisons/diseases/area effect heals, so im wondering if master doctor/master combat medic, pistol specialist, support specialist wound be a good class combination, seeing how you arnt very skilled with your weapon?

Also, does the components to cm stuff take medical expirimentation? if so wouldnt a doc/cm be able to make much more potent poisons?

To answer the second question first, yes. A dr gets 10 points of medical experimentation points, and the combat meds use the same base components as the regular meds. Only in the final assembly will your CM experimentation points come into play.

And as to your choice of professions, I can only tell my personal experience. I got master doc, and decided to go master CM so I could have ranged stims so I could heal from a distance, while still being able to buff and revive. I got about 3/4 of the way up to master CM (**edit** crafting) when I realized that it's really quite worthless. First, I could not go out and solo anything larger than a kreetle or a gornt. Good groups are kinda hard to come by. Also, I don't do too much PVP so the DOT attacks didn't appeal to me (Still dunno if they're worth it) so I dropped CM and went pistoleer, which I'm finding is a whole lotta fun with my master doc buffs.

Can't hurt to try it out tho... med xp is pretty easy to come by (buffing = yay)

if you pvp all the time, if you only hunt in groups.. master doc and master cm can be very fun..

if you want to do any sort of soloing.. it just doesn't work..

I solo pretty well being a master doc/master cm. granted I am not out killing rancors or dark jedis on my own, but a nice poison to complement your weapon special and toss in a non CH pet as a tank works nicely. Faction missions can be a pain sometimes but thats what faction pets are for.

no it's not worth it..

you'll forever be a support character..

Doc for buff/rez and CM for PVP poisoning.. note that i said PvP.. because 300 poison damage on a 15k HAMmob is an itch he can't scratch. Make it 5 mobs.. area poison.. they get 300 damage a tick.. you get 500 damage from each of them per second.. worth it? doubt it.

Ranged heals are ok.. but seriously.. if your group needs an area/ranged heal that often.. you need to GET AWAY FROM THOSE N00BS and find a decent hunting group..

of course.. if you meant "am i going to like staying in the med centre all day and only heal/rez/poison during PvP?" then the answer is a very strong yes..

I've got to disagree, I'm quite happy with my complete support character.

Admittedly it requires you find a set of really good friends, or a solid guild. I know the one I'm in I have someone who splits profits on selling my meds 50/50 because he sells them and runs more than half the harvestors I use. My guildmates also help me get the resources I need for a lot of my skills.

Taking this path DOES make you basically dependent on others though; without scout you can't get any avian meat, herbivore meat, and other mob gathered resources for your still (aka no enhance for you!). Without artisan you cannot survey and place your own harvestors. And Pistol Specialist, while I've found it to make me almost as strong as I was after the TKA Nerf and being halfway up the TK tree, still severly limits how much money you can make and what you can handle in a mission.

Also, buffs kind of make you useless, I buffed our whole group and no one really got hurt, not even the TK meleeing the stuff we were fighting (and not low level mobs either). Still limited by Mind damage, but there nothing new about that.

CM Ranged Stims, however, are worth the whole tree. If you've EVER had to heal several people, you'll know that running around trying to get close to everyone that needs it is a pain in the backside. Also, you can't sit down and rest because you need to keep running. This makes your Mind bar deplete VERY quickly. With a Ranged stim I can sit until someone needs healing, heal everyone easily, then sit down and regen a bit. Most of the guild mates only need Ranged stims as a last resort, they usually get close enough I can small stim them while sitting. This makes my Mind regen as fast or faster than I'm using it, potentially making me able to heal through long fights without worries.

Also, PvP = Area Stims. When everyone's spamming their special moves, and groups are hitting groups of people, you can't sit and wait 4 seconds to heal one, then another, then another, then another, then another, then back again, one little area stim will solve THAT problem very quickly. Basically CM will take your Doc skills and make you a PvP support character as well.

Once again though, it all requires a LOT of resource support if you want to be useful. Soloing that class? You'd better be pretty dedicated, or be somewhere where 5K tips are common... *Medic mission terminals please!*

I started up the Master Dr/Master CM path when I quickly realized the hardest mission I could receive was a level 12, while I could easily take out reds on my own, just by healing myself continually. So while you can combat effectively with this combo, the game doesn't recognize it in its terminals, etc, and you're stuck with low-paying, low-level missions.

I decided to Master Doctor and drop CM entirely. I can still revive people on the field and buff them and myself, but I can also get better missions now that I'm climbing up the Pistoleer tree.

I'm going master doc/ master cm because I enjoy crafting meds and selling them. I personally don't care if I ever kill anything else in this game. The combat system is just about the lamest I've ever seen in a game.

yep we do have problems with mission difficulty level. I'd like to see it swapped to go off the highest skill level rather than weapon skill level, but not a big deal. Just have to go to the more advanced planets to do missions. Picked up 3 faction pets tonight and went faction hunting on dantooine. made a nice 58k in a couple hours from the dif 35-40 missions there.
