Thread: Medical Crafting Resource Collection: Meats
Hi gals and guys...
How do you get large quantities of good quality Avian and Herbavore meats to make big factory runs?
Hire folks to do it. It helps if you have more than one person doing it, as well. Harvesting meat takes a lot more time and effort than dropping down a harvester so expect the stacks to be smaller and to cost more - both bad things for factory runs. I mass produce stimpacks and my herbivore meat is almost always the most expensive resource for me to get ahold of.
Make some contacts and get some people harvesting for you. You might want to try posting on your galaxy board to see if anyone is interested.
Another possibility would be to get a scout/ranger to tell you where the good meat is and organize a hunting party of your own - if you have time. Tell folks that you'll heal them for free on this hunting trip as long as you can take the meat with you when it's done. You can make some good money this way (doing missions) as well as get some meat for yourself - and a bit of XP, too. Of course, hunting on your own takes time.
Bio Engineers ought to be able to take a DNA sample and set up a factory to make meats...
Organics... Petro fuels... maybe low grade ores... Just need hydrocarbons and minerals to make Organic stuff.
Dump a bunch of cheap, low grade, otherwise useless organics into the hopper, and produce high quality organics... the amount of material in the hopper would/could control the amount of stuff you got out the other end.

Does this sound wrong to anyone else?
But I think this could be a really cool concept. I mean, if a bio-engineer can make a creature, why can't he/she make the meat that you'd get from that creature?
I posted the slightly fleshed out idea in the Bio-Engineer forum.
If you can afford the skill point and have a bit of combat skill I suggest you consider picking up novice scout. That way, you can take hunting missions from the new Explorer terminals and make money while you harvest meat.
For example, while on Corellia the other day I found two Crazed Durni nests next to one another. I ran into town, accepted a mission that payed over 3000 credits for killing 40 Crazed Durnis and returned to the nests. It took me around one hour to complete, going between the nests and letting them respawn, but I harvested over 400 units of meat and made 3000 credits at the same time.

Now that would be awesome! But what would you use as ingredients?
I recommend using rebels for ingredients.
Mmmm, Soylent Green...
It depends on how your character is structured. I have a decent Pistol skill and Novice Scout, so I sometimes hunt for my own meat. Best thing though is to team up with a Scout and go hunting.
Get to learn what creatures drop specific kinds of meat on the different planets. On Naboo you can kill a little Nuna outside town to see if the Avian meat is any good, then go hunting Kaadu and Peko Peko.
I found Snorbals on Lok drop really nice Herbivore Meat (on Flurry at least) so I go hunting with a Scout friend - buff him up, keep him healed, and each Snorbal drops 50-80 units of meat, and there are 11K Snorbal missions available in Nym's Stronghold. Good money, weapon and scout XP for him, good meat for me - we'd get around 3K meat just from doing four missions together. =)
Alternatively you can comission Scout friends to bring you meat if they hunt a lot. Say bring me X units of Herbivore Meat and I'll give you a crate of really good stims, etc. I keep all my friends supplied in stims anyway, so if I know X planet currently has good avian or herbivore meat I'll let them know.
Another way to find what is good quality meat is to check the bazaar. It's not always accurate because things may have shifted, but you can search the entire galaxy and examine all the posted meats to figure out which planet currently has the best Avian and Herbivore.
