Thread: Holo's ideas regarding incap and insurance not so great for Doctors.

We need to be vocal about this. With insurance as a requirement to minimize corpse runs, the Doctor revive skill would be highly desired. When they disabled insurance revive simply turned into a faster way to return to your group but provided little incentive otherwise.

Holo's new idea is to make personal items suffer damage once a player has become incap'd if they haven't insured. It would make Doctor's revive skill much more useful if this damage didn't occur unless the player regenerates at a clone center upon death with no insurance. Revive would save players much grief if it was implemented this way, and Doctors would be more in demand again.

Even if this damage did occur when the player died and was revived, once insurance is turned on, doctors aer going be more in demand, anyway. Unless someone has EVERYTHING on them insured, they'd probably prefer to be revived rather than have to run to the corpse.

Of course, if a doctor could prevent damage to items, they would be in higher demand but I don't know if that makes a ton of sense. What is causing the damage, the death or the cloning? If the damage is caused in the cloning process, then I think the revive ability should prevent the damage. If, however, the damage is just being inflicted for "being bad" and getting killed, then I guess the damage should still be inflicted regardless of whether the player is revived or cloned.

I think the problem here is that Holo is mentioning the decay occuring at incap, not necessarily just death. Seems a bit harsh to me.

Simply count how much you are incap'ed and how much you die. This insurance thing will not change the way people need a revive or not, it will change the way people want to avoid incap.

Nothing for our revive ability here. But damaging my inventory each time i'm incap'ed is a real pain for me as i have loads of stuff (including armor, clothes, ressources, ...) on me and don't want to loose them if i'm not able to gather 5M cr to insure them. I love changing my outfit to be "equiped" for what i'm doing (long white duster while in a med center, short white jacket for the field, blackop duster when i'm doing missions, ...).

Only the death should be a penalty, not all the little accidents of life (oups i shot a sharnaf accidentely ).

I guess the only positive view here would be that medics would be in greater damen to be in groups, to help prevent folks from getting incapped in the first place. Then again folks will aslo get really ticked off if a medic can't get to them to prevent the incap in the first place.

And for heaven's sake, if you need a heal, stop bloody running! I'm not a combat medic! Stay still!

Terrible idea. It'll just turn everyone into a chicken.

And I'll echo what MC said, nothing worse than running up to someone and trying to stim them. The stim goes into the queue and they run off before it triggers. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah Holo stated that the decay would occur on incap, which is way too harsh. It would be better to have the decay occur only once the player clones and was uninsured. Items take damage because they weren't regenerated in their full capacity - which insurance would prevent.

Keep in mind, with Holo's idea there is no corpse left, so no more corpse runs. I'm not proposing that we keep corpse runs - just that Revive add some benefit other than simply bringing you back to the group. Saving the uninsured player from item decay would make the skill much more useful, but still not overpowered.
