I've been a master doc for several months now. I enjoy crafting and I make my own meds. Recently I became a +11 doc. I buffed in Coronet for a while but I got tired of buffing for 2-3 hours with no break because the line just keeps growning... Anyways, I decided to make money selling packs rather then buffing in public.
The money isn't quite as good as buffing in public, but I have over 20 mil credits so it's not an issue. It's a lot easier, no long lines. Just gather resources, make schematics, run factories, stock verdor, make 6 million.
However in the past few weeks my buff business has been very busy. My vendor ran (again) out today and I got several /tells and emails asking for special orders and notification of restocking. That's great, but I'm going through a lot of resources. I have millions of units of the best harvested organics and inorganics available on my server. My problem is, I'm blowing through meat faster then I think I can replace it.
At this pace, I may have to shut down in a few weeks because my stockpile meat will be used up. Are there any docs here that have been in this same situation? What did you do? I like being a crafter, I like contributing something to the galaxy but I won't be able to keep this up much longer.

You'll most likely just have to try to hire hunters to harvest the hell out of the good meat spawns for you. It's expensive, but as you know, if you have the cash to cover it, you'll make a lot more in the long run.

Use meat onlywhen its absolutely necessary, ie I wont use acrdms for most of my meds, I get these to nice levels without the herb meat invovled.
So when some nice meat is harvestable you really need to sink credits into stockpilling, 300k of herb/avian to last a few weeks. It is a costly investment but this will keep your venders stocked. I used to harvest myself and I still do when I can but now I rely on being able to offer hunters top rate cpu so they sell me their stacks of meat and I am pleased to say the responce has been excellent, I usually have to announce a close time for offered meat as I start to get too much, 20m+ investment is about right ... will see you right thought a bad spawn.
If its selling too fast, you may want to review your pricing to see if thats too low...can only help when you need that cash for your meats.

Yeah hiring hunters is your best bet, I'm sure if you made a mailing list consisting of your frequent customerstell them that you're paying a certain amount of credits for meat you'll get some business. And if you state that your "buff" packs depend on the meat I'm sure they'll help you because those x/2/4/x docs and the masters who dont want to spend their time making "buffs" will want to ensure your vendor is always stocked

I found a hunting list is the only way to go as well. I found two things to keep in mind when it comes to them, 1. get enough of them, 2. keep them motivated. Atm I have a list of about 20 hunters and during a particular spawn i'm hoping to get 5 good hunters out of the 20. When it comes to keeping them motivated i'm simply saying it gets boring after a while to go out and harvest meat when they could probably make more money doing solo missions. A lot of times i'll offer them X free buffs when they bring in Y amount of meat, or sometimes i'll up the CPU by 5 or 10 for stacks over say 10k. I found i get more hunters interested if they get an incentive to gather more meat. This way you avoid those 1k, 2k stacks that come in.

When you first start off getting meat is hard, you need to build a list of hunters like others have mentioned. Advertise what you are buying as much as possible. I do this by putting up a thread in my galaxies trade forum and keeping it bumped, email to my list of hunters, and I drop a pack next to my vendor with the offer on it.
On our server Avian goes for 100cpu average. We have had one shift that makes 940+ power packs, that avian goes for 250cpu. Our great class 4, we have not had a great shift in over 6 months, is around 100cpu. Herbivore meat is usually 25cpu, but has recently been bumped to about 50cpu. Most everything else great goes for 10cpu. Finally packs on our server range from 20k-30k a pack.
Its important to have a high cpu or the hunters will simple hunt something else, ie hide for armorsmiths.
