Oh, you say "I can make 940 power, 4 hr, 35 charge pacs". Well, that's just fine. Now answer the question; Why?
Let's look at what one will be doing with a buff.
1. grinding exp on Dant/Endor. A 2k buff with Ubese armor is more than enough. You will never see your Health/Action budge.
2. Solo cash missions on Dant. Again 2k buff with Ubese is more than enough.
3. Dath Rancors, NS, etc. Anyone with a little stim B will be able to keep up with the healing with ease.
4. PvP. When is the last time you died in PvP due to health or action? Maybe 5% of the time. The rest is all about the mind pool. With a little stim b you can keep up with what little heath/action damage you may be getting.
5. High end dungeons like DWB, Geno, Corvette, etc. Lets look at each.
DWB - If your in a group (as you will be) then the 2k buff is more than good enough. You will need duration more than power. I will grant you that when I have gone down and killed the loard I needed a 4hr pack.
Geno - 2k buff is enough but if your waiting on the Acklay you may want a little longer duration.
Corvette - Since you only have an hour duration is nothing. Here you will want max power. But how often do people go up any more?
6. Hunting for harvesting meat, hide, etc. A 2k buff is more than enough as these tend to be low end mobs anyway.
The difference between a 800 pack and a 900 pack is only about 10% more buff. That 10% will rarely make any significant difference in life and death or even play style. However, the difference in crafting a 800 vs 900 pack is substantial.
As a crafter I know the desire for the high end buff. We all have egos to feed.
I make this post in response to all the "What is your best Enhance-D" posts that are always on this forum. For me the best Enhance-D is:
800ish power - All the power I really need.
30ish charges - Max charge ABEC makes this an easy number to hit so why not.
2.5ish hours - Long enough for me to get sick of doing what ever I was doing.

Makes me wonder sometimes why people are willing to pay (depending on the buffing doc) almost twice as much for 2.5k buffs instead of 2k buffs.

It's because of humanity's desire for power. It's easily seen in the player base too. Take two doctors for example (following I've seen happen quite a bit on my server). One is buffing for 2600 for 3 hours and 10 minutes or more for 10k credits. Another doctor right next to him is buffing for 2300 for almost 4 hours for 8k credits. You *might* see 2-3 people in the line for the lesser power buffing doctor, while the higher power doctor has a line of 20 people waiting. They don't seem to care that 300 less power doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things (unless you're a low-level Jedi, then yes, it does, believe me!), and that there isn't much of a wait in the other line.
People are willing to pay for more powerful buffs, no matter how insignificant 300 points are.

cuz the line is shorter
if the 2k buff line was shorter I'd be in that one. I agree totally that there is no difference between a 2k and 2.5k for what I do. There is also no difference between 10k and 20k lol even 50k.
I even adjusted my stats so it's all mind since throwing 2000-2500 on top of whatver is left makes it more then enough.... Now if only then entertainer buff would last as long...

Here is what I have experienced when I buff using 2k buffs.
1. Sits down next to a 2.5k buffer who is selling them for 15k each.
2. Offer up my2k buffs for 8k each.
3. Get many tells of
"Man your buffs suck"
"Why don't youtry using Bivoli, it is a chef food that helps you buff"
"You should hunt better avian bone"
"There is a med vendor that sells better packs at a great price" (gives me the waypoint to my own vendor) (my favorite)
"Well these are not very good buffs but I just want to help a newbie out so I'll take what ya got".
4. Get a few wise customers who are glade the line is short and tip 15k anyway and say "thanks Doc".

I agree completely, and even go a step further in that I use different quality avian for my Heath packs versus my qui/stam/str/con as I see no need for the additional power for the secondaries.

I got over the whole "ultra buff power" trip awhile back when I closed my buff shop.
I had goals to accomplish, and I did them all. (Well, I'd like to hit an 800 power Stim B).
Funniest thing was, the whole time I was on this quest for ultra power med stuff, I was using 800 power / 30 charge / 4 hour packs for hunting and pvp'ing lol.

Be that as it may .... there is somthing to be said for aspiring to be the best you can at what you do. Do I need 935 power buffs? of course not. I don't sell mine, but after a mastering doc, what's left? Many people (including me) get a high in trying to make the best buffs i can with the resources available on my server. I played on shadowfire. I knew nothing, I learned from that and made another doc ... there the best i could hope for was a 750 power buff and now the best non janta i've made was damn close to 950 ... like 947 or somthing .... why?
Because I can and its a goal in the game. Otherwise what are you left with without somthing to drive and inspire you? There are other people that have different goals. Thats fine. But that's no reason to put down those of us that have made this one of our goals. You don't see us putting you down for sitting in the starport buffing for hours on end (which i would rather poke my eyes out with an ice pick than do) so I'd appreciate it if you didn't flame people for what is ... imo ... just an in game goal just like it might be yours to reach a certain amount of money buffing ....

This makes me
as well. I mean having a big HAM bar is reminiscant of getting that really expensive red sports car. Seems as though it mes them feel ... well you know.
I for one buff for 12K on Shadowfire on Dant, because as stated before, there must be something wrong if my prices dont match the market
and I have noone on my line if I go less.
