Some say its buffs that ruined the game by turning everyone into superman, some say its the armor that has made people into supermen & go out and solo nests of rancors on their own.
So how about SOE remove the Constituion/strength/quickness/stamina doctor buffs and remove musician buffs from the game? (musicians should instead,be able to heal BF and mind wounds in a camp without needing cantina AND be able to 'mesmerize' a single creature depending on their skill..that is, musician plays at creature, creature stops attacking and moving and just stands there until the musician stops playing or someone hits the creature...for you know, in a hunting group the girl with the harmonica is a buddy, the nekkid girl dancing by the fire is for something else!)
The result of this would be players with primary ham bars buffed (but the other ones will be 'normal' as set by in their migration stats) who can wear the 80% composite armor.. BUT who in combat do not have the massive regeneration rate and who do no longer have zero (or near zero) ham costs for their weapon specials.
This would mean that a player would be effectively well protected but who will have to manage his HAM when using special attacks. It would also encourage the use of other types of armor... the lighter armor wearers would receive much less protection, but will have higher regeneration rates and lower ham cost for their specials.. a trade off. Those who play without armor have zero protection (barring perhaps a PSG) but will have much faster regeneration rate and can use a lot more specials than those wearing armor.
The loss of special-spamming ability (even for those who do not wear armor) and the loss of the uber regeneration will encourage players to finally use postures, to use more chef foods, encourages the use of a wide variety of weapons (when was the last time someone shot you with an sg82 rifle? or a stryker pistol? or came at you with a vibroblade? or a metal staff?).
But most importantly it re-introduces proffession interaction into the combat aspect of the game. Medics will once again be an important part of any hunting/xp group. Rangers with their camps will woo groups into taking him along, entertainers will accompany the groups to heal the mind wounds received, combat medics be the shiznit to have along, melee proffessions will finally 'tank', ranged proffessions firepower support, hybrids in between.
Best of all is this can be tested NOW in any live server. Grab your guildmates, have them get only health/action doc buffs and only musician buffs. migrate your stats via image designer to compensate. grab a few different armor types and weapons to try out in this setup.
go hunt rancors.
you will see just how amazingly the game changes from grind to fun.
For docs: Your bussiness is still guaranteed. Everyone will need the buffs.
Armorsmiths: more armor types for you to sell.
Weaponsmiths: more weapon types for you to sell.
Entertainers: we love you even more now.
Rangers/Medics/Hybrid classes time forgot: You're back in the game!
