so..... whats the point? besides avoiding carpal tunnel?
Wasn't the factory supposed to be the cornerstone of the industrial revolution? Making ojects in a factory decreased production time phenomonaly, and it changed forever how objects, devices, and MEDICINES were created here on Earth.
I guess things are a little diffrent in SWG.
but seriously, whats the deal with the slow factories? is it a bug or something? if its not.... well, all of you who have tried to mass produce with these things share my feelings.

See it this way. With a factory you can handcraft AND factory produce at the same time.
It can manufacture items even when you're not online.
It can manufacture items while you are out doing missions/harvester maintenance.
You can also handsample faster than a harvester can pull stuff out of the ground. It's good for gameplay that it is like that.

The point of a factory is this. To mass producean item to be identicalbasically, yes you can craft faster on you own, but dont forget expermintation on all your parts and chance of failures and a bogus part due to failed expermintation. So you want that perfect maxed out stim d, with a factory you can have that. On your own you might get that perfect stim d forevery 4 stim ds you make on your own. Anyways you think thats sad, try sampling for a resource, i can sample faster than med size harvesters. I mean come on.

A factory actually only takes 1 second to make anything. Doubt you can beat that. The remaining 4 to 20 minutes is spent packing the item into a crate. I doubt you can beat that either. As it is now, the factories can barely figure out how to do it themselves.
