When you experiment for efficency you actually experiment on both duration and power. Thus a "Great success" might be an amazing power and a failure on duration.

I'm about 90% certain that this is the case and I believe that this is mentioned in the doc FAQ as well. Does it suck? Yes. Oh and this is also why efficiency is harder to experiment on than any other doctor item (I've failed with a lot more buff packs than I have other stuff).

I could have sworn great and amazing successes raised both power and duration (until one or both are maxed). Good successes and failures I know raise one and lower the other from my own experience.

No forced interaction (in an MMORPG?), but hey, the expansions sure seem forced.

I'm not certain actually. It was a while since I crafted buffs. Of course, sometimes on "Good" stats go down in general it seems (not just buff packs), so perhaps a Good + Amazing (~= great) could have this effect?

For me, in the past, I never had a problem because duration maxed quite a few points prior to power being maxed.
