Thread: MD vs CM

I recently was in a pvp battle and was poisoned in the mind by a CM (go figure), as I hit myself with a cure poison I noticed that my poison did not subside, it was only reduced. It took me 3 uses of my cure poison to get the poison to subside. Does anyone else experience this? If so when are the cure poisons by MD going to be equally effective in subsiding a poison by a CM.

Depends on the strength of the cure, as well as the power of the poision. I know I carry two types of cures, 650 power singles and 530 power 25 m areas (oh yes, those are fun ). A couple days ago I got hit with a poision that took me two shots to cure. I was pretty stunned by that, but it does happen (spider venom, etc)

Yes, it depends on the strength of the poison/disease and the cure.

I have previously played as a MD/CM and they are pretty balanced - it is just that CMs tend to put more effort into their poisons and diseases then MDs do into their cures.

CMs can bedeadly, but easily handled if you are well prepared.

The cures are balanced against the power of the poison/disease. If thepoison is stronger, the cure will reduce the damage done by an amount equal to the power of the cure. It works basically the same with disease, except that your battle fatigue factors into how many wounds a disease gives you. I've found that single cure packs are a good use for the single janta bloods I have left over after making Jant-enhanced buff packs. Base blood is slightly better than the base spider venom, so janta blood is a great way to counter venom-enhanced poisons. A single cure made with good resources will have no problem curing an unenhanced poison or disease in one use. The area cures are weaker (as they should be).

Obviously, PVE poisons and diseases are much weaker than those made by a good CM, so save your high rated cures for PVP.

Even a 10point doctor can make a cure pack with 500+ effectiveness on it with good resources. I had to use some of my good dantoonie berries but I have some 530's that NOT janta blood enhanced. Maybe it was the resources or you just weren't experiementing with them too well.

or

maybe the CM was spamming the poisons hoping to break through everyones resists. If you cure half of the poison and it gets reapplied it goes back up to full strength. The CM may also have been spamming different poisons on you causing you to cure and and a part of another over and over.

Next time please post your cure pack stats. Remember that you are a doctor and making poison resist packs isn't rocket science.

Thanks for the info. I didn't make the cure packs, bought them so long ago that I don't even remeber what the stats are on them. I am willing to bet they are not the top end cures. I will have to make some of my own cure packs and see what kind of stats I come up with. Thanks for the input I really appreciate it.

PvE docs (myself included) may make/buy pretty lousy disease/poison packs, because the poisons/diseases of MOBs are relatively weak compared to CM's. Back when I was making my own (non-advanced, lousy) stuff as a non-master, I was out fighting some mantagrue screechers on Endor, whose diseases hit for 100 per tick. I was using experimented, but not advanced, disease/poison packs A (hmm maybe it was B, either way it was something I didn't need crates for) and they were working fine, and cured in one shot.

Unlike other products, such as buffs, there is a demand for lower level poison/disease cures, and it is likely that doctor vendors will sell these lower level items for the PvE crowd who don't need to pay for the bestest of the best.
