"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - JULIO TORRES

I'd recommend Doctor 4000 ( 20 points ), or 3000 ( 18 points ) as that was your criteria.

Bacta Infusion is -- by far -- my most frequently used doctor skill. Healing over time has a lot higher healing potential that any of the other healing skills, and can be applied at the beginning of combat -- I look at it as "free armor", as it reduces the amount of net damage taken by the receiver during its duration. If nothing else, I keep it running on myself perpetually in combat just to increase my own survival rate. Dead docs don't do diddly.

I find the buffs to be of limited usefulness, and -- unless I know I'm going into a tough fight -- frequently don't take the time involved to apply them to myself. They're nice, but hardly essential.

I have a "sneaking suspicion" that someday the Devs are going to look around and realize that in PvE there is no (real) current need for state fixers ( remove poison, etc. ), and as a result increase the negative effects of state issues -- making Doctors viable and wanted party members again. However, today the state removals are the least attractive abilities from the doctor tree for PvE.
