Thread: Rude customers
Has anyone else really had this problem? Problems with rude customers?
Two days ago, i was on Dathomir with some friends, going rancor hunting. Several people were in town, shouting that they wanted buffs. Now multiple-person buffs take a while to apply without mind, focus, and willpower buffs, or some kind of spice, or a power boost.
I remove my title, and get over into a little spot alone with my friends, and start buffing them. A couple of people notice it, and come up asking for buffs. I agree to let them get one or two, but suddenly, EVERYONE starts heading my way. My friends are getting ready to leave, and I'm still stuck buffing people that I don't even know.
One guy asked me to buff him and his pet, for 12K. I did it, and received no payment. I was already late leaving out, my friends were getting impatient (and rightly so), so that was the last straw. I told everyone else I was no longer buffing, that I was going hunting with my friends, I didn't have the time, nor the spare enhance packs to do everyone, and I had to go.
Well, up walks a guy named Redom who gets downright mad because I won't buff him. At first, he doesn't say which stats he wants buffed. I tell him a very firm "no, I'm going to hang out with my friends, they are about to leave me". He gets mad because I'm imperial, he's imperial, and the last person I buffed, happened to be a covertRebel. he insults me by calling me a rebel sympathizer, and then goes off on me in tells, as well. I continue to keep my composure, and simply tell him that I'm here to play the game, I am no one's servant, I will leave when I want, and I'm sorry I couldn't buff him, but after his comments, I would most likely never buff him again.
Then he starts asking me for health and action buffs only, for 10K. Now had I known that beforehand, I probably would have just done those two stats, and walked off. But by now, it was too late. My friends did not even get the chance to leave. They were waiting on me, and because of that, they got stuck being attacked within their guild war.
So now I'm healing, and reviving, and fighting along with them (I'm not in their guild yet). Again, no time for buffs. I die a couple of times, and after I'm done, I go back to the cantina to find... a dancer. I stop and watch, and get a mind buff. When I come out, Redom, and his friend O-N-E are outside telling EVERYONE that I'm giving away full sets of buffs - for free.
Now I am getting a ton of tells from people in this outpost, wanting buffs. I don't even have time to put up an AFK message about it, because they are coming in faster than I can type the AFK message out. All of this, simply because I would not buff "one more guy".
I've been playing online games for over 7 years. I've been a "merchant" at some point or another, in almost every game I've played. I know that when you have a long line, sometimes you just have to say "no more" or you really will NEVER get out of there. There have been times when I've gone to sleep at 6am because I was staying up making sure I helped everyone that needed it.
But to be abused simply because I choose to play the game, and not break my neck to buff EVERYONE on the planet when they want it, is sad.
I've had just about the same thing hapen to me many times. I dont thinkd Dr's get enough respect, a lot of the players feel we are their personal servents, i think its stupid as heck. People walk into the med centers demanding to get healed and than just run out when we are done healing them, never get a thankyou or a tip. I no longer heal / buff / rezpeople who treat me like crap, its pure BS when a person is a jerk to me and than gets mad when i refuse to heal them, we as DR's shouldnt take this crap anymore
It can get under your skin, especially if you are a nice person yourself. But frankly, when people start getting rude, I laugh in their face, make a short statement pointing out how they are wrong, and proceed to ignore them thereafter. Its not worth it to trade tells or other such with them. They are simply enjoying toying with you.
If someone starts broadcasting falsities about you, I would just broadcast the truth once and let it go. You really cannot win in a war of words with someone that doesn't care about your feelings and has no compulsions about lying. Just be happy with your own decisions, your desire to help people, and play the game in a fun way for yourself.
And to answer your question, yes, I have the same problems. But the more I ignore them, the quicker they move their childish behavior elsewhere.
A few days ago I was in the Medical Center in Coronet (my driod ran out of power) giving myself some buffs. Its like 2am so I am all one in there. In walk 2 guys both wounded. As a master doctor I am now totally out of the wound healing business. I never heal wounds. I dont need the XP and there is no money in it.
I finish my buffs and start walking out. The guys say "could you heal my wounds" I say "2k each for all your wounds" They both say something to the effect of "hahah you are way over-charging I never have to pay for heals bla bla bla you got to be joking chargin for that"
I told them that they should go and find someone to heal their wounds for free cause I wasnt going to do it.
They called me names and challenged me to a duel LOL
I left abd came back like 10 mins later.... they were still alone in the medical center waiting for someone to come
Im not defending him, Im just saying that you shouldnt let it get to ya.
I run into my fair share of folks who demand to be healed or buffed quite a bit. If I'm busy, I tell them so and hopefully that is that. If I start getting rude tells, they go promptly to my ignore list. I play the game for fun also and owe no-one healing services or buffs because they feel so. I tell them if they want it that bad go to the medic trainer and take up the skills themselves. Unfortunately healers always seem to be the one profession where people see your tag and expect something for nothing.
Cheers!
