Thread: New insurance system just went live...and no fix to buff timer?

I haven't tried this in-game yet so....does the buff timer still tick forward after LD or logout?

If the buffs fail as they had done pre-patch, then the solution was suicide for the player affected. Now that player will have an inurance penalty:

Death and Decay

  • NO decay for incapacitation
  • 1% decay upon Cloning (not death) if you are insured
  • 5% decay upon Cloning (not death) with no insurance

Was this combination of issues addressed in test center?

Aynn, explain. Under what circumstances did your buffs drop but the timer didn't?

Buff stacking works as it should. This means that musician, dancer, food, spice and doctor buffs can all be used at once.

I died, cloned, and was able to rebuff all my physical stats, fresh out of the clone center.

I do not know if they repaired chef and smuggler buffs stacking with doctor ones though.

Looks like this thread confirms it:

Yes, SOE introduced a game mechanic that essentially exploits a known bug to grief their own subscribers!

This only affects combat doctors (like me) because professional doctors can always offer to resuscitate their clients in case of LD or logout. Apparently there's not enough people to test things out on test center that they have to use the live servers as TC1, TC2, TC3 etc.

You make it sound like something like this is deliberate. That's pushing it, I would say. As you later mention it is likely it didn't get fully tested (there aren't a lot of Docs on TC, from what I can tell). In this instance it was likely that the Devs simply did not foresee the added consequence of Item Decay on a situation where this already existing bug had not been fixed. (Although it had been mentioned.)

    Back to the original post:

Zarlor, to answer your question about the buff timer issue-

The problem arises if you log out while buffed and log back in before the buffs would have worn off.

for example: Let's say your buffs last 2 and 1/2 hours. You buff yourself and 15 minutes later you log out. you log back in an hour later. Your buffs are gone when you log back in because of the character reset, but you are unable to re-apply buffs because the buff timer "thinks" you are still buffed and you get a message of something like "that attribute is already enhanced".

I have tried to wait out the timer before (gave it several hours), but I ended up killing myself to do a character re-load. Re-logging and waiting a 1/2 hour did no good.

I also have buffed myself and logged while buffed and re-logged several hours later (enough time that the buffs would have worn off) and everything is fine. So I think theproblem here is re-logging in before the buffs would have worn off causes the buff timer to get stuck or possibly an enhancement "flag" stuck on. Since dying always removes buffs, this was (and probably still is) the ONLY way to cure this.

The new insurance rules only complicate this problem.

    I hope this helps.

I understand that one (been on the issues list since it was created, actually). I ws just curious if there was some OTHER time when buffs were dropping. Otherwise the two instances I know of are listed as Issues #4 & 5 on the Doctor Bugs list.

Guys, TC player here. Sorry about this, but we never found that bug... we were more irrtated about the fact that there was a 20% decay of items on incap.
