Like many other Docs out there, I try to hunt my own avian from time to time, looking for that big elusive bird that spawns on missions and gives tons of meat, hoping some day that the meat will be primo grade A. An ongoing discovery cycle I'm having is that the Devs have populated the Galaxies with animals that look like birds but aren't really birds. If it has feathers, wings and word "bird" in it's name, why the hell doesn't it drop avian meat!?! I can understand how flying reptiles and mynock based animals can be something else, but if "bird' is in the GD name, what numbnutt gave it herbivore meat* !?!
Sure, avian meat can be rare, and the harvest sizes small, but holy crap! Making birds yeild the wrong meat is asenine!
*My most recent example being Lantern Birds of Yavin IV. CORRECTION: Whoops! I was on Endor!

If your hunting avian on Yavin forget the birds. Look for nice little dogs call Choku. They drop more meat per kill and are aggressive so the dont run from you. Missions pay more as well 3.4k I believe.

I laughed myself to tears over this post. I really emphasize with you. I first became frustrated with vir vurs on Rori. But Avian dogs?!?!?!? Your right, how don't care how long ago or how far away the galaxy is, Avian means avian. Makes for a good laugh though.

Ya, I was a hunting for avain when a few of them agroed me. My macro does the harvesting and I had to take a double take when I saw the system measage regarding harvesting xxx units of avian.
There are a few odd things like that out there.
Maybe we can get Agent to update the FAQ with a few of these. I think I will start a new post to collect this info.
