I'll be the first one to use this thread for an actual rant... this one against the breed of overly-greedy docs (the ones trying to justify charging 30k for buffs).

At the base of all of these formulas and math equations is basically figuring out what the high end player are doing with their buffs. So, let's apply this to things in real life:

1) I go to buy some new sneakers. I want to buy the same sneakers that Allen Iverson wears. Since Iverson makes millions of dollars a year playing basketball, I should be able to as well. Therefore, the pair of sneakers now costs $250,000.

2) I go to the supermarket to buy some pancake mix. Since IHOP makes tons of money just selling pancakes, I should be able to as well. Therefore, the pancake mix now costs $50 a package.

3) I go to fill up my car with gas. Since NASCAR racers make millions off of sponsorship deals, I should be able to as well. Therefore, gas now costs $200 a gallon.

Must I go on?

So, are we expected to ask our customers what they plan to do with the buffs, then adjust the charge to fit their pay scale?

I charge 5k per set of buffs. Now, I have no problem with docs charging 10k. 15k is pushing it, but not too bad. I mean, we have to make some sort of profit to survive.

But if you need to charge 20k to feel good about yourself, you are either greedy or you need to re-evaulate the money you spend on resources/buff packs.

The money we spend of resources isn't the WHOLE equation. Most of what is being charged is the Cost of our time, If I could buff 1000 people an hour, I'd only charge 4k for buffs.

I think 10k is fair but I would be willing to pay 20k in a hearbeat, I feel sorry for the poor people just sitting there buffing for a living, they are missing so much fun in the game, I have an alt that I will pay for buffs rather than go al the way back to my shop and sign my doc on, its really cool when I know who buys my stuff and I have them buff me and they dont even know its me They say 10k and I pay them 20k!!

Sorry I didnt rant, but people have to realize the economys are different from server to server, not by a lot, but they are different.

So i'm just south of Coronet in a camp owned by my guildieswannabe Ranger. He has his alt advertising that i'm selling buffs 200m South of Coronet. So there I was, buffin, chattin, jokin around, havin a good time actually buffing people. Then, this overt imperial comes along (i'm covert imperial) and tips me and gets in line. Well, when its his turn I notice the imp symbol next to his name and tip him back and inform him that I don't buff any overt players, regardless of faction. I don't want a TEF that close to coronet and there are overt rebels that go by the camp on a semi-regular basis.

To set this up more, a week earlier i buffed an overt imperial thinking it was my duty to the cause, when just as he leaves two overt rebels get off the shuttleport and proceed to kill me while i was unbuffed and had no armor with me. Right, mistake, from now on no overt buffings, its not worth the hassle. I had 20 people in my queue and it was a big headache.

So, back to the original story. This guy gets mad, says I can buff him, he will go LD and I can buff him during his invulnerability timer at login. Well, it would have taken two LDs to accomplish this and I didn't feel like holdin the line like that, so i said no thanks and have a nice day. He gets even more pissed and proceeds to yell and scream at me. So to make a long story short he logged on his alt Master Doc to buff himself (why didn't he do this in the first place is beyond me), then he sat the Master Doc in my camp and harassed my clients and put his other account next to my advertiser in coronet trying to distract my business.

Why must we put up with people like this? Why do 12 year old punks with no life, no manners, and bad attitudes get to play games with more civilized people. It's horrible when you have to put up with someone who insists on acting like an @$$. Just makes you wanna quit sometimes.

While I'll agree (from your accounting of the incident) this guy acted immaturly, petty and like a regular jerk. But there are 2 sides to the story, I'm sure.

Anyhoo...why bother having a faction if you aren't going to take care of that faction? I've been ganked after healing an overt and i've gotten a TEF. But i'm an IMPERIAL DOCTOR, that's the whole reason I chose a side. Otherwise, I could do what you are doing Neutral. Now I don't sell buffs, and maybe this is normal for the persons that sit around and buff outside of major cities/installations/buildings, not to take care of the factions they chose. BUT...

I must be missing something though. There is a GCW going on, the purpose for chosing a faction is to participate in the GCW, Why bother being a faction if you aren't going to play the faction. It is the reason that there is a "neutral" option in the game. If I were to /rant about anything it would be posts like yours, who, IMO, are missing the whole purpose of factions.

I had a guy last night standing in my shop asking people for a battledroid, harrasing my customers, I politely asked him to leave, I said I have no droids and nobody is going to give you one, he kept asking people, and then he was bugging the crap out of me while I was talking to a customer about the new meds, I told him to please stop asking or be banned from my shop, he started laughing and said you cant ban me its a public place, I got his name typed in the ban list and said cya, he was see I told you, then I hit enter poof he was gone!

Moral of the story is yeah why do people have to such a-holes? I took him off the ban list later, I am not sure if he actually bought anything but I dont want to deny him of my services or the other vendors my friends have in my shop.

/wave kitkat I used to buff overts when I had a chance at fighting someone, then I lost all mycombat skills and had trouble with kreetles when I went master artisan / master doc / merchant, now I am back with some swords but I still wont buff someone overt thats outside near a major rebel city, I dont want the decay, i dont have time to heal if I die, (Mind Heals) its up to the person buffing if they want to or not, if the war meant anything I would probably take one for the team, I used to take on for the team all the time, I would die trying to go res friends in battle, I didnt care, I was all for the GCW, but the GCW means nothing right now, its not worth the hassel as of now IMO.

Ya know, i understandyour reasoning, I just don't agree. It's why there is the neutral option in the game, so you aren't in the GCW. As for that (GCW) meaning nothing. Well, it is what we make it. 10zillion bugs andglitches,Jedi are like a swarm ofants on a sugar cube. But there are many that still fight the good fight, it's what the factions are meant for.

Now,I might be wrong. But if you remove yourself from a faction, you stillmaintain your faction points. *shrug* so, for those that wish to do nothing but buffor don't wish to participate cause it's "broken" right now... Resign from the faction, do your thing, and if it is ever fixed, just join back in at any time. And there wouldn't be this issue of "i'm not supporting my faction cause I don't want a TEF" ... just dont' be the faction until you wish to play the faction you chose

I fear losing my Colonel Rank and my two AT-ST's if I resign, as I said before, I was really into the war and when I found out bases didnt mean anything and that we were so outnumbered I started selling meds to everyone and took on the crafting sceen full time, loving it ever since!

There isnt a week that goes by and I dont think of hanging up crafting for a living but somehow I always manage to get through the tough times, it usually only takes a day or two of saying screw the shop I am going hunting.

No flame intended though kitkat, I was just saying to each his own, and you are right that the war is what you make of it, I seriously am thinking of giving my alt the merchant responsibilities so Billy can fight more, but I dont want people to know my alt and bug him for meds so I keep him as far away from the shop as possible. I hope to play in the war again, but till I only hear how great it is, I will craft and loot hunt.
