Thread: med crafting xp....why????

over the last couple of days, i have had a lot of /tell from people asking me what is the best thing to make, so they can grind xp.


i answer them all in exactly the same way, and that is i dont know, i dont grind, i just heal.


but it did get me thinking, so i sat down this morning, and made a couple of the components for stims.


when i started, i had 11274 medical crafting xp, and i decided to make a solid delivery shell as a practice run, which gave me 36 medical crafting xp, bringing me to a total of 11310, so i made another solid delivery shell, but this time actually produced it, and that gave me 35 medical crafting xp, bringing me to a total of 11345.


i thought this was a bit odd, so decided to make another one as a practice run, and another one and actually produce it, the results were the same, 36 xp for the practice, 35 for actually producing it.


is this how it is meant to be?? are we really supposed to get more xp for practicing than we do for actually making items we can use??


when i finished messing around looking at how much xp i got for practicing and producing, i decided to look at how much xp i got from using a factory, i checked my medical crafting xp, it was at 11432, so i made a schematic for 20 stim b, popped it and the resources/components in the factory, and waited, and waited, and waited, then finally the factory had finished, i checked my medical crafting xp, and it was then at 11437.


so i gained 5 xp for producing 20 stim b in the factory.


igot 36 med crafting xp for practicing on a solid delivery shell


igot 35 med crafting xp for actually producing a solid delivery shell


i got 5 med crafting xp for producing 20 stim b in a factory


why get more xp for not making anything??? why only 5 xp for making 20 stims????


is it the same for everyone else, or did i do something wrong??

Yes its the way its meant to be.


You get a 5% bonus for practicing because the resources are used but you get no product.


I think it was mainly put in so you dont fill your inventory with usless junk noone will buy while you grind your way to the top so you can actually make things people want, which is a whole other can of worms.

Actually, it was mostly done due to the fact that the pure number of items being destroyed was clogging up the database on the servers and causing some to crash repeatedly. Overall, not a bad idea for a fixreally. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

no one mentioned the Factory exp yet... You aren't crafting, your factory is. You get 10% of the original making it much harder to get MD then in the old days :-P
