I've played the game for over a year now and can't figure out the economics of making money as a buffpack supplier. I've seen all year long good buff pack makers paying over 100CPU for avian meat. Yet, buffpacks sell typically on my server, Starsider, for around 120K for a full set of each. Assuming you pay the 100cpu for the avian, that comes close to 5million credits for a 50 crate run of the full set. (In other words, 50 of each stat assuming you use the avian for the action which a lot of docs don't) 50 sets at 120k gives you 6million credits or a profit of about a million credits assuming you didn't have to pay anything for herb meat or the other ingredients. Am I missing something here or are the profits really that small. I know when I used to buff the public, I paid for my buff pack purchase with the first 10 buffs I did. The other 20 buffs were profit for me. So my margin was pretty good. Just curious.

Actually a set crate with 50 enhance packs of each stat would take 1400 units of avian for Health packsand 1100 units for allthe other stats.Coming up to a total of6900 units of avian for all the 300 packs (I even added the avian for Action packs, even though most Docs don't use it). So if a Doc is paying 100 cpu for the avian like you said, he will actually spend 690k total for it, not 5 millions.
So out of the 6 millions the Doc will eventually make after selling all the 50 sets, only 690k was used to buy the avian (which is the hardest and most expensive resource in buff making). Obviously, you have to add all the other expenses to make them, which should be something like this all all the 6 crates of 50 :
14000 units of Lokian Wheat and Tat Fiber at 10 cpu -- 288k
9600 units of Herb Meat at 65 cpu -- 576k
9600 units if Class 4 at 10 cpu -- 96k
4800 units of Dolo Iron and Dom Oats at 10 cpu -- 96k
6900 units of Reactive Gas at 10 cpu -- 69k
Total spent with resources would come up to 1.815 mill (I already added the credits spent with the avian as well). And that's assuming that you didn't mine any of your resources butdid buy them all. (Once again, prices for all those resources varies from server to server but setting up 10 cpu for all the resources that were mined can give you a rough estimate).
So out of 6 millions you will make (considering your price of 120k per set),the Docactually spent 1.815 millions in resources and ended up with a 4.285 millions profit. Double the prices for all the resources and you'd still come up with a 2.370 mill profit.
Enhance pack crafting can be really profitable. That's way you see Docs sometimes paying up to 500 cpu or morefor avian and still making a huge profit. (Obviously, in this case the sets would have to be sold at higher prices).

The math is easier to work out if you deal only in single pack sets (for the rest, simply multiply by the run and you will have your profit). To keep the math simple, I am assuming 0 cost for all other ingredients (not realistic, but you will see they add very little to the cost):
a single set of packs requires 138 avian meat (22 for each stat other than Health which is 28).
At 100cpu, that meat will cost you 13800 credits. If that is your only cost and you sell it for 120K, you will net 106200 credits for each set that you sell. Not a bad profit at all...
The error in your math seems to be that a 50-pack crate of each stat only uses 6900 meat which would cost 690K at 100cpu, not 5 mil as you say).
Believe me, there is plenty of room to turn a profit at 100cpu for avian...

I see where I made my mistake. When I read the FAQ I thought the totals where for each stat, but the author meant for the total amount of the run for all stats. Now it makes much more sense to me. Thanks guys and enjoy those profits.
