I see so many Medics and Doctors complaining about being poor, which is sort of funny becasue our ability to heal makes us one of the most viable solo/combat classes in the game. But anyways:

If your tired of being poor .....

Make a macro /healdamage "your name"

Get a stick (combat staff) and a gun (pistol) .... throw a few stim packs in your bag and go solo destroy missions and never look back. Later as your combat skills improve you can decide to be a brawler or go with pistol, which ever style suits your fancy.

I would recommend pistol though since they seem to have the fastest attack speeds, and heals stack in the combat queue even though you cant see them there, the brawling part seems to help the most when your just starting out and your pistol skill is very low. Pull with the pistol and switch to the melee weapon when the mobs get within melee range.

When you want medical xp join a group fighting and concentrate on healing them, you can earn medical xp at about 10X the rate in the field as opposed to a med center even when its packed.

If we would ALL do this and maybe every now and then cruise through the local medical center and announce its not worth your time healing in them because tips are so lousy ...... maybe that situation would improve as well.

I paid for about 90% of my medical training from the NPC's all the way to Master Doctor, bought a house and food and med factory. I keep seven harvesters running and have a nice medical supply business going now that lets me go looking for the mobs that give the best pistol and combat xp thats going to get me to Master Pistoleer =)

Why is the assumption always made the Medics have to make money as something other than a Medic?

Yes, there are MANY ways to be rich in the game. HeckI could be a Master Medic and a Master Weaponsmith and make millions. Easy.

But i wouldn't be making money as a Medic. I'd be making money as a Weaponsmith.

Now in part, getting money from destroy missions with a group you are healing is, in fact, making money as a Medic.

I don't think the issue is that people can't somehow make money. There are LOTS of ways to do it, as you and oh so many others have pointed out. The issue is how to make money using your Medic skills. (AndI personally don't think it's a huge issue, mind you, but that is the issue nonetheless.)
