My character is a soon to be MRM (currently 4/3/4/3). I was considering MD as a support profession and have a few questions for you experts

1. How hard a grind is it to MD? Any recommendations? (i.e. sit in a cantina and heal dancers/musicians, sit in med center waiting for patients, etc...)

2. How is the profit? There must be a ton of medics/doctors out there so I'm curious how well you all do cash wise...not only do I see this as a combat support profession (i.e. self buffs) but also as a means to make credits.

3. How does MD compare to CM for a combat support profession? I have read that CM is more for poisons and ranged heals. As a rifleman I don't need the poisons and basically need the profession to buff myself and rez my dead friends.

4. I currently have CH but will have to drop it to go MD....with CH I found sololing alot easier. Being a doctor do you find you need a group to function in this game? Can you effectively do missions solo without pets?

thx for your feedback

As a Master Doc / Master Rifleman / 4-0-0-4 Marksman ... You will be tough to kill in PVP (as long as your buffed, and have excellent armor)

One downside is you will be left with 4 Skill points. So you wont have any Terrain Negotiation by skill default. Its nice having a mount, but still walking so very slowly up a short hill is annoying.

My HAM setup is 400/400/400 for both Health and Action, and 1000/1000/1000 mind. This allows me to wear a set of 85%-88% Composite armor (again, with buffs). With Angerion Fishak Surprise (+460 mind drink) and a Muon, and my trusty T21 or Laser Rifle, I can mow down just about anyone in pvp.

As far asxp goes, healing people with stims is ok. You wont get a whole lot sitting in a cantina healing dancers. Go out on PVE raids. Heal hurt players.

I got alot of my med xp from using Wound C packs on wounded pets / players (and even ATST's before the fix) ... that will give you alot of xp.

For crafting? Just gotta grind it. Look at some of the advanced components you can make, pick one. Then go by the resources for it in bulk. Pick up 3 or 4 craft kits, and just grind on that one advanced component. Make sure you set it to practice mode too. Give yourself some hours and your set. Adv. Components give more xp than regular components when crafting.

Hope that helps!

It sure does Red. Thanks for the feedback. I also plan on creating a musician with an alt character for mind buffs

My only concern with this template is how well I will do in PvE? I have CH skills now so I am very spoiled when it comes to attacking monsters.

As far as combat goes, I doubt you'll have much of an advantage picking up Doctor, since you'll be dropping your Soloing abilities for a more group orientated profession.

This would mean that you would be much better equiped for healing yourself if you got hit by mobs, but it wouldn't really help you kill them any better.

If you interested in a change of tactics or wanting to group more, then doctor is an excelent compliment to any combat profession, but if you solo more than you group, you may find yourself having trouble adjusting without your pets to tank

As A Master Rifleman/Doctor with Explore 1 ( + 20 terrain negot. ) I tend to do well both in PvP as well as PvE. My stats are set up with 1100 mind 600 focus and willpower 750 health and action 400 quick. , str. ,stamina , and con. ( I keep a nice supply of muon gold and enhance D's on me).

I found the only grind to MD was the crafting tree. It's slow and boring but pays off in the end when you are running around with 2k + Ham. Also people will pay well for those buffs . I get about 5k per set .
