Thread: How to get Med Experimentation / Assembly tapes on our own ?

We all know how expensive Med Expimentation / Assembly tapes are (in upwards of 5 million in trade forums). I am sure 90% of doctors including myself cannot afford it.

So I have couple of questions.

how / where to get these tapes on our own ?
Does it require high level combat profession to kill the NPCs that drop these ?
And last, how rare are these tapes ?

Any ideas ?

There is a static spawn. I refuse to promote the camping that occurs at this place, so I'm not going to say where it is. It's all over the forums though, you should be able to find it. It's also possible, though very unlikely, that these will drop off of NPCs. The harder the NPC, thebetter the attachment is likely to be. I've heard of +21 med experimentation belts dropping off of dark jedi masters, etc. Some NPCs, like darktroopers, drop pretty nice attachments from time to time, and are soloable by a master doc with fairly extensive (not necessarily mastery) skills in a combat profession.

No harm in telling.. Its the Borgle bat cave on Rori.. down at the bottom. Chances are you won't be able to get one anyway.. too many people camp there afkand use cheat programs to instaloot the thing clean over and over again. Respawn time is like 30 mins.

This****** disgusts me that people are getting away with this already, it was one of the reasons that UO was ruined for me in the end....un-attended macroing and script looters in the new dungeon doom meant that you really never... never get a chance to steal the rares that spawned there !

Please say that they are doing something about this ?

Personally I would like to have a chance at these med exp loot but whats the Point if this is happening already (

They are not doing anything about it. I assure you of this. I reported a person for un-atteneded macroing thugson Talus once. he had his script running for over 4 days and I was hunting nearby, checked back often and he never moved.

The response that I recieved almost made me sick. As long as you are not doing a 3rd party program you will not get in trouble. so camp away. hell Entertainers can do, why can't comobot profs? And for that matter why are we not auto select resources to craft without being there? If every other prof can master without ever touching a mouse or keyboard (Entertainer in particualr) then why should crafters?

And if you doubt that Ents do that go to Corellia, Cornet and see how many of the people that are dancing are AFK

Yes but as far as I know you can't loot the debris with an in-game macro. Right? /loot all doesn't work, although I haven't really tried hard- but I've seen some people seemingly afk at the debris. I've run into the cave a few times though and on the occasions that it was empty I have actually gotten a bunch of nice tapes. I hear on some servers it's camped 24/7 though.

But don't despair, it's not the end of the world. You don't need the extra experimentation to be competitive. IMO.

I got a +1 medical experimentation off of a Tusken at the Fort yesterday, so you can get them from drops.

I believe it was a raider that dropped it also.

It's camped 24/7 on Wanderhome, I know of acouple people who log in on two characters and play one while the other sits /afk at the debris pile waiting for the 30 minute spawn time.

I'd like to get some from there also, but I haven't the play time or patience to camp spawn points.

Thank you guys. I agree you don't need the extra experimentation to be competitive.
I can make Stim Bs with 403/31 with crappy lokian wild wheat / Basic CRDM and 10 experimentation points. With good lok wheat I might be able to increase it to 420. Even though this is not a great stim, it sells really well. I can assure you.

I was thinking, if I am developing my combat skills a little bit, why not look for tapes on my own? Sounds like it is impossible with afk campers out there

The devs are partly responsible for this. These high end loots should be completely random and shift just like how resources do. This way there is no one place where people can camp and loot non stop. Will give us all a chance.

Some people might use a "cheat" program but it is quite easy to do usingSOE supplied macros for unattended looting of a box. The bottom two boxes are camped 24/7 on chilastra.

The more people that know about this, the better in my opinion. Sooner or later enough people are going to complain about it in the right places and hopefully put an end to it.
