Thread: Anyone else having rezzing problems?

I am a neutral master doc, and before Act 3 I had no problems rezzing dead players, even if they were overt when they died.

After Act 3 though, something funny started to happen - when I tried to rez an overt rebel who died, it said that i could not target the person, even though I had him targetted.

Today, I tried to rez an overt imperial, and got the same message.

Both people consented me and I got a message saying that they consented me, but for some reason I kept on getting a message saying I could not target the person I was trying to rez.

Is this is rezzing bug or is this just some new change for rezzing that affects doctors who are neutral/ of the opposing faction?

I haven't had this problem rezing at the Tusken Fort, but I can't remember if I rez'd any overt players. I'm also a nuetral Master Doctor. However, I'm very interrested if this is a bug or not. It sounds like a bug to me

Neutral Doctors are not supposed to be able to heal/rezz Overt or TEFed players.

I can understand (somewhat) the overt players.... but doesn't TEF go away when the person is dead?

Sorry I don't engage in PVP so I don't know how these things work very well

Imagine this senario:

An overt Combat (say a BH) and a neutral Combat Medic (or Doc, but CM can heal mind, so its better for this example). The two player encounter an overt of the enemy faction. The BH and the enemy go at it, but the neutral CM continuosly heals his friends HAM (mind too) while the opponent can do nothing to stop the healing, since the neutral is not attackable.

That is why only Overts/Coverts can heal Overts. A Covert would recieve a TEF for the heal, thus making him succeptable to attack.

Thanks - I knew about the healing restrictions for overts/TEF if you were neutral, but I thought it got cancelled off when the person died. I think perhaps in the past I was rezzing covert players who got TEF, since, if I'm not wrong, the over status goes away oncea TEF player isdead, and the player resumes covert status when rezzed.

I suppose that would not make sense if the person was a declared overt, since death would not remove the overt status.

ALTHOUGH....

The person I tried to rez did say something about how she was not sure how she was overt at the time...and if a neutral doctor cannot rez an overt, shouldn't the message show something like 'It would be unwise to help such a patient' instead of something to the effect of 'the person you are trying to target cannot be targetted' even though you can?

THAT sounds like a bug. Can you describe the locations where this happened? Can you drag the person around? Back when I was a Combat Medic, we had a similar problem with line of sight being restricted if the target was behind a log, rock or other collidable object. It was fixed, and then broken again with Area stims.

I wonder if your experiencing something similar. Might be some kind of server/client sync problem, where the server thinks you and your patient are in different places than what your seeing on your screen (why things slide around like when you sit down and you slide forward, or when you kill something and the corpse warps forward a few meters)

As an imperial Covert Doctor in the past, I had no issues rezzing a fallen Rebel who had a TEF. Once they were dead, the TEF expired. I also had no issues rezzing an Overt Rebel player at the start because, again, once they died they reverted to Covert status.

That last part did change though, several months ago.

I think rezing overts changed wen they put in faction cloning centers at bases where you could clone in still overt or sompthing like that. Im kinda new to pvp so sorry if this is wrong...But it makes sence why you cant rez an overt as they would be overt untill they chose a cloning station that did not allow them to clone in overt.

The first time it happened was at a camp my friend dropped on Yavin. They were doing Act 3 missions so I was buffing before they went to fight, and an someone who declared overt showed up. We duelled and DB'd him as we thought it would get rid of the overt status and put him back to covert so he could get buffed. When I tried to rez him, I got the message that I could not target him.

The 2nd time was outside the starport at Theed. I was getting a character image designed by an overt imperial (she later said she didn't know how she was overt), when someone shot her in the back and killed her (very slick ). I tried to rez her and the I got the message that I couldn't target her again.

In both cases I was less than 5m away from the patient/corpse. They didn't slide away from me at point of death. The could see me and talk to me in tells (albeit with some confusion). I got messages from both of them consenting me.

My server is Flurry, if that helps.

well, those two encounters you should not have been able to rezz anyways (unless you were covert at the time), so perhaps the message is just bugged.

I honestly have never tried to rez an overt while being neutral. Ill have to find a guinea pig tonight and try it.

I've had the "unable to target" or "target out of range" messages before when trying to rez. Simply use the /drag command to drag them away a bit and try again. This won't help with the overt/covert/neutral aspect though, only the "target out of range" part of it.
