Thread: Just wanting to wish my fellow docs goodbye, not the game just the profession.

Took me three months to get to master doc. I am so unsatisfied with the profession now I plan on giving it up. We aren't broke by anymeans. We can make money. I just don't enjoy the tells you get constantly if you wear the title. The abuse we recieved on the way up the skills ladder doesn't accurately reflect in our prices. The grief we have to go through to get good resources (not excellent, just good) resources and the subsequent disbelief of customers at the price of 10k per set of buffs.

I don't heal people anymore, I don't rez people anymore, I don't buff people anymore, I don't make stims for people anymore though i have the resources and ability to produce 100's of crates of +400 heal stim b's.I exist to serve my pa, but now that I trained another doc for my pa I will be dropping the title and skills.

I felt proud the day I became a Master Doc, I hoped that we would recieve more respect for our skills and services. Within a weeks time I learned the opposite was true. I appreciate all the doctors and medics that helped me get to my master doc title. And I have trained many a doctor on bria and inducted three or four into their master doctor title.

Time though to retire my Doctor title. I believe hunting maybe not ranger but going back up the hunting tree in scout and gathering meat resources for my friends will set right a little of what went so terribly wrong for me. I began working on combat skills a month ago, and have harvested k's of hides and meats. I never sell them for over 2 creds a unit even that high oq avian meat and herbmeat that we covet and desire.

Its been a pleasure, I hope that I see you around in game on the bria server. But i guess I am done with all my posts here.

This is why I will continue to wear my Guardsman title until I feel like I want to sell buffs

I empathise.

Here's a handy tip. Try this:

/alias nobuff /r Sorry! I only buff in exchange for Herbivore meat, 1k minimum quantity. If you've no Scout skills, try paying the 30 cpu on the bazaar for some

Then, if you are not in tell-hell, whenever you get pestered, just type:

/nobuff

... and it replies for you You can modify the message to suit your personal style. Mine used to say

Sorry, I don't sell buffs because you combat types won't pay enough to make it worth the 2 minutes of my time.

..and sometimes...

Sorry, I don't sell buffs because I you combat looters charge too much for your stuff, so I am out getting it myself!

...but you get offered silly money to buff then

Sorry to see you leave. I understand what you've been through. Good Luck in your future profession. All Medics (CMs and Docs) as well as Entertianers (Musicians and Dancers) all go through a bunch of grief for our professions and are expected to use our tallents and skills without compensation. Just wear your Master Doctor title one more time and walk through Bestine and /tell everyone that spams you for buffs that due to budget problems the Buff-O-Matic is closed.

To be honest you make the game what it is. If you are cornered into serving a PA and are not satisfied with that then it is down to you to change it. If you want to hunt and heal then get out into wild and do it!

I hope you find what makes you happy in game, good luck.

well sorry to hear, hope ya have fun with another profession,i as well never wear my master title,i have never buffed for cash, and i only buff friends,PA guildmates and myself...its unfortuante that there is alot of abuse towards us by some players, but there is also alot of well trusted, matureplayers that understand 8-10k for buffs is so worth the price(1 or 2 missions and its paid).

Good luck on your future endevours

It's sad to see another doc put away the stims, and I'm sorry the bastards got you down. I consider myself fortunate that most of those who seek my buffs are perfectly happy to pay the 10K, and those who whine about it aren't given a second thought.

Btw, if you're ever interested in a meat contract, let me know. I can pay you more then 2cr/unit for it.

I know I am missing out on a lot of credits to be made buffing, but honestly, I buff guild members and my friends and thats it. I never wear my master title, and if i don't know them I ignore their tells. Buffs are one of the most sought after things, that are constantly needed. I have no doubts that if you sat in Coronet with your title up and started buffing for 9 hours straight, assuming you had the resources, you could literally buff for 9 hours straight. You would get that much business...its insane, and a headache i will only endure if i ever go broke and need something. I really have no need for more than 6 to 7k for buffs, I figured 3 buffs I paid for a pack, to pay for a crate of nice buffs, I would not even use a full pack set, before paying for it 6 times over. So I am not worried about it and can more than afford to ignore them.

Sorry to see another go tho, and I hope they fix this massive variance soon. I have 850+/med use 90 packs, +75 clothes (hat, pants, and shirt are each +25), a 110 droid, master titleand I still buffed my friend for less than 1500 on all of his stats.

That is ridiculous, the night before I buffed someone, all stats 2700+....I know it is being looked at and fixed soon, so I just console myself with that...

I hear you, man. I worked a long time to get my MD, and I like playing a Doctor. Unfortunately, once you've done your 100th buff, you are wondering how much longer you want to chase resources, do factory runs, and all that good stuff. If you get treated like a buff vending machine, that wears thin. Fortunately, I know a bunch of high-end hunters that like to keep a MD on retainer for safaris, which is much more fun than pimping buffs.

It's a progression. You've played a Doc, and hopefully it was fun! I'm not sure how much longer I will be a Doc-- once I finish Pistoleer, I think Fencer or Smuggler sounds likefun. Something with light crafting at the most.

I will always keep Master Medic, though. I'm always going to be a healer of some sort.
