I see lots of negativity here. Don't bother responding to this to explain why you are negative...I can read the other 90% of the forum and figure it out. I want to hear from those of you that LOVE this profession and why. What do you like about things now, post CU, with the Doctor Profession? What combat class do you feel goes well with Doc and why? What things about Doc do you think are underated and why? What aspects of the Doc profession are better now?
Why am I asking all this? 2 reasons: I am considering respecing to MD and it's easier to whine than it is to be constructive and look at the positives. There's a ton of negativity out there (on all the profession boards, not just yours) and we need to breathe some fresh air into these forums. Again, don't post with negative comments...I was a Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer since '03...I have cornered the market on being unloved by the devs, but I still stay positive.
Let's here some good opinions....

well, I now have doc 4004 on my master tailor/merchant, and it keeps me alive when the CL4 thugs beat me up at the starport
does that count?
p.s.: oh yeah, and some of my customers appreciate getting their wounds healed when they come into my shop

It makes being self-reliant much easier. As in you can heal yourself during battle, and heal your wounds afterwards.
The best thing about doctor is still helping others.
There are some things that need tweaked and fixed, but we'll just have to wait and see on those.

Doctors are great to have in group situations. If you enjoy being in a group and having a lot of responsibility it's a wonderful profession.

I'm playing a doc/swordsman right now becuase I ::gasp:: respeced to it. I know I didn't work for it like some have but well, I at keyboard ground master musician so haha, I earned some lazy.
Anyhoo. I heal for free, buff for free, rez for free. It's a great time. The whole healing my own butt in combat is just a perk. I thought I'd say hello and let yall know that yes being a doc is fun in CU and there are some new ones ( like me) Rock on to the lovers and piss on the haters.

I never thought I'd be saying this post-CU, but I played my Doc/Commando the other day at the village and had fun! It was the first time post-CU that I had a great time playing.
Of course we're in phase 4 with Sith everywhere. I was able to save my own butt more than once. (I did have to call on the rez arm of a Jedi guildie twice though *sigh* but at least he was there!) It was early morning and there were only a handful of people there, I was the only doc. There were 2 CM's who were both on leave. Isaw first-handthe value of being a combatant doc.
I really found out in a fast-paced situation just how valuable having doc was to my own gameplay. Due tothe low healsI wasn't often able to save anyone from dying, but I was able to get them back up. I concentrated mostly on keeping myself alive. There were times that the hate really built up and the Sithwere all after me and I couldn't heal and run fast enough to get into a hut. That's when I died. But I would imagine with a good group and less creatures/NPCs coming after you, you'd do pretty well most of the time.
If you're still wavering on keeping doc and have access to the village, I highly recommend spending one attack there. You'll quickly decide if it's worth the skill points.
I am still going to gripe about the lack of xp outside of combat, and when I had to heal I lost ALL my weapon xp and only got medical xp. I am still going to be unhappy with the ridiculously low amount of wound healing we can do in one hit. Black bars just should not take a Master Doctor 20 minutes to heal.
It's a different world now for Docs. It's a different style, it's a different profession in almost all ways. But for me, as a mainly solo player, Iam starting tosee a silver lining in this big dark cloud.

Though it seems like many people dislike the changes, some also approve of them.
My GF now has Master Doc, along with her Tailoring. (Was Master Medic with a bit of Doc before, the CU allowed to move the medic points up to doctor...) Not having to care like crazy for medic ressources any more made her very happy.
Also the healing seems to go smooth enough, in full padded armour she also can do some (limited) tanking. A bit more of healing range would be appreciated when caring for other people, though...
For me personally it's always nice to have a doc in team, makes hell of a difference. Wouldn't i already have the Squad Leader, the Doctor definitely would be a premium choice.
