Thread: Restriced to Dungeons now ?

Me and a couple of friends went out on a hunt today , me as a healer, Master Doc Master CMa tank Master pike master sword andTK andthe third guy is a pistoleer smuggler combo . So we thought we could take a krayt .. well first of all my alt can solo those things (that I really dont approve of it should be a bit more difficult), but anyway .. the nice little lizard has some sort of 25m 360 degree area hit that basicly makes it impossible to survive without concentrating on healing myself , this leaves my throwing thingies that heals for about 600-700. With luck I can run in every now and then and throw another heal but then with a big risk of beeing killed, it makes me annoyd when I get slammered from 20m 45 degrees behind the mob at the same time my2 frinds get hammered from different angels ...


I really not sure what the problem is here , its probably a combination of many problems ... first of all Doc's really should be able to get of some bigger heals .. or atleast get the existing ones on different timers this is just weirdat the moment In many places we are still useful, but sometimes we are just as useful asone can ofair freshner in the sewer .


Second melee proffs are really crappy they are usefull in caves and dungeons but in open areas its 10 times as useful without a tank and just let a CC handle the mob and have a few riflemen kick the daylight out of the it instead ... but then all docs who like to heal things can retire , so I would prefer that melee gets a boost and some tweaking are made to certain type of mobs of resisting different types of state or something making it harder for the soloing of elite mobs .


I do like my doc char , I can spend hours roaming around in theed healing the wounds of people getting blasted in space , but please PLEASE have a look at the current setup I would love to be more useful against high level mobs , now I just feel as a burden

First of all where you wearing armor? Most the doctors I see complaining about not having strong enough heals are often the ones that are still walking around in normal clothes. You have battle armor cert for a reason.


One reason I don't understand why some doc's melee is because they know that our heals have a AOE hate effect and why you would put yourself into the lion's den on purpose is beyond me.

I dont melee , I have only medic proffs because I liked the ide of an all out combat doc , and yes I wear a full suit of battle .. the problem is that when a mob can knock people in a 360 degree circle around him how would you heal them all ? , as I said ranged proffs can easily do this without getting hurt but is that not to roll over and say yes melee is crap. When one lv 80 can solo lv 86 krayts withoyt problems but 3 other lv 80 proffs can not do this together , dont you think there is an issue then ?

Cast infusions before the battle perhaps? Have a CM around to Bacta Toss/Spray? Pull smarter? Use ranged weapons? Lots of ways around that.

any reason your group isnt using a bunch of different stun/root/paralyze on the Krayt? with the professions you listed, you should be able to root it, KD it, whatever long enough to kill it without taking a bunch of damage..



or am i missing something?

Magen ! thats the point !!!! the pistoleer smuggler did this better himself when he could controll the mob without caring for the rest of us , when the melee ( who was wearing full battle armor ) went to smack the mob he took large portions of damage . and when the doc ( me ) tried to heal the melee I got large portions of damagetogether withe the tank .... whats so hard to understand here.... in this case melee and doc were better of doing /emote on100m then trying toactually hurt the mob. and let the ranged do this by himself .

With all due respect Kylania, I do not think you are getting the point. Let's break it down:


Cast infusion? This does not significantly mitigate against the kind of damage a high level mob like a giant Krayt can do, nor does it last very long.


Have a CM around to Bacta Toss/Spray? Well, the author of this thread stated that he was a CM as well as Master Doc, and tried to use Bacta Toss (or Spray) but rarely got the chance because he was too busy healing himself fromt he area attack of the high level Krayt.


Pull Smarter? The only pulled one mob. That mob had a heavy area attack that damaged all of the players attacking it that were within range. Master Docs have a very small healing range, so unless the have the Medic 0X00 line, they cannot stay out of range of the attacks and still heal. Even with that Medic ability, there is no guarrantee you will be able to stay out of range of the attacks and still within Toss/Spray range of the other players. This character did have those Medic skills and still had to spend most of their time self-healing.


Use ranged weapons? That was exactly the point of the original poster. He was lamenting the fact that Rangedprofs can tank at a distance and do so much more damage that Melee profs and healers are almost unnecessary (let's not even talk about buffs!). Melee profs can be more of a hindrance than a benefit in many cases while hunting out in the open because they have to get in close to engage the target and risk drawing in more agro. Healers likewise often draw more agro by healing.


I think these are very good points.

I can't really comment on the strength of the heals since I just decided to give Doc a try yesterday. But as for the other complaint about the Krayt being able to hit you all I had an observation I had to mention. You are fighting a dragon with 4 legs each tipped with razor sharp talons, a mouth full of razor sharp teeth, and a long spiny tail. It seems more than reasonable for it to be able to hit all of you at once. It might not seem fair, but it is realistic. Just a thought.
