Thread: New to Doctor, what to train first?

I'm a 1/0/0/0 novice doctor. What trees shold I go up first? I was thinking speed since I'll be able to heal wounds faster ans get more XP quicker.

Any thoughts? I know the crafting tree is important, but I am gathering my own resources without harvesters (no money), so when idle I sample manually (this will take awhile I know).

Speed was the most important to me first. Then start crafting because it is hard to find C buff (enhancement) packs and you'll need those to get some serious med XP going for the other lines. It is tough to sell the C packs as buffs like the master docs do but as buffs can be overriden now, I think more people are willing to take a sympathy buff for XP.

Cheers

ctually, you should go up Wound Treatment to get the ability to Rez.

Heres what you do:

Make sure you havea lot of Rez packs, get two people or yourself and a person you can kill quickly.

Have those two people duel or you duel that person, DB em and rez em. I was getting about 720-800 XP per Rez. Depends on how good the rez is to get more xp.

well, at 0240 you can start giving crappy buffs, so you may want to go that way since you can get fast xp buffing

I found it easier just to heal a tumbler, if you're not philosophically opposed to using them.

do speed first if you're going the tumbling route, it will make you level a bit faster, but really it doesn't matter much.

You are a perfectly servicable doctor at 4440. I've had two master docs and decided to stop at 4440 for my current doc, since he does everything I want him to do.

If you want to craft your own meds, then by all means go master. You can do the crafting all at once if you macro, or little by little if you prefer to do it manually.

Either way, your doc will be usable and beneficial.

Have fun. Some of us around here seem to have been forgetting to do that lately.

Go up the crafting line x-x-x-4 and you can create high level wound packs and heal most wounds with one shot for each stat. Then speed isn't as big of an issue. The wound treatment line (x-4-x-x) will give you the ability to buff and rez. The knowledge line (x-x-4-x) will increase your med use allowing you to use higher powered meds. The speed line will however give you the ability to cure poison and disease and put out fire. If you want to do be a major asset to a group hunt 4-4-0-0 with all state cures, poison and disease packs, plus rez kits will make you very valuable. If you want to buff for money 0-4-4-0 will give you that chance. You just need to decide what you want to do first.

Thanks all, I'll go from left to right I think, all the while crafting my own stuff. Seems like you can have fun anyway you do it. I prefer to be part of a hunt, gathering some good resources along the way while getting XP also. Heck, I may take up musician to heal mind wounds and BF in a hunt also. I am worried about dropping too much scout/master marksmen but then I consider I'm a crappy fighter anyway!

Just hanging out in Bestine Med Center on Chilastra I had a blast healing wounds with my own meds, a tumbler was there so when it was empty I'd heal him, but that gets boring fast. I guess if I need to grind quickly I'd do that but there is no hurry, Jedi revamp coming and all, plus I have limited play time anyway.

Thanks for the advice!

You stole my thunder. This is a little trick that I leard after I was 1404 I think, so I only used it to get my last box. But I was getting 785xp per rez.

Hehe, I used it to get all of Wound Speed and Doc's Knowledge branches. After about 20 minutes of this, I was able to get three boxes :]

Ummm, if you want to make your own you really need to rethink your strategy. Do the right line first and get your 10 experimentation points. Without those your anyhting you make is really underpowered. It's only a day orso of hard ABEC grinding to get it done.

Yeah, I am trying to get the lokian wild wheat now, Lok is a tough planet if I'm idle while collecting resources I come back to a dead player all the time. I collected 5k of Tat fiberplast pretty easily, but this will be tough to get 5k of. If I get it, I will gind the crafting tree first, then try the Rez trick with guildmates who are over the age of 15
