Thread: New To med crafting...

I mastered doc the other day and tried my hand at buff crafting for the first time. I am using all 900+ resources, with the exception of mediocre herb meat because there hasnt been a decent shift of it on radiant for awhile. I also cannot for the life of me find any Dolovite iron anywhere on the server so have had to settle for somevery niceregular SDS's instead of advanced. Exp at a +43 station with top stat tools. And have basically become a math major trying to impliment the "formulas" set out on the website in one of the threads at the top of ths forum.... all that being said, my buffs are stillmediocre at best compared to the ones i see everywhere. Around the 1800 mark.... My question is, would the ASDS really make a huge difference, and am i SOL til good herb meat shifts, or would these 2 things only make a small difference and i'm doing something else wrong? I know bivoli would help, but not all of us can afford that stuff right off the bat. And how much higher could the buffs get with BE clothing? does +25 mean +25% of the base enhancement, or is it figured differently? I know i need to get the clothes, but was impatient to see how the uber resources i had would do in crafting. And i read about the +5 apron not making a huge difference because u cant get the extra exp point til u hit +10, so is the +5 apron worth it?

I really want to do this right, and make a good product....

Thanx in advamce for any help.

You would be amazed at the difference some extra stuff can make on your buffs.. If you are buffing for 1800 without any of the extras, that is actually not that bad..

Leoryck put together this nifty tool.. http://glue.huffen.com/BuffCalc.zip Download it and play around with:

  • Your bot's med rating (You want 110)

  • Bivoli up to 25

  • Skill clothes up to 25

And you can see the different all those make to the final buff amount.

What is the base amount on your buff packs? I would say anything 830ish and higher is pretty decent imo.

Thank you much, that lil calc is quite useful and your right i do see the difference when BE clothes and bivoli are added in, it is significant. My first batch of buffs came out with a base of 825, thats without any bonus clothes or the ASDS, and the mediorcre herb meat.... so i guess it wont be hard to make them better then. Thanx for the reply kama, your help is appreciated.

The bivoli and clothes would help a ton and finding some Dolovite would help a lot too. It's been FOREVER since I made a regular Solid Delivery Shell, so I don't recall their maximum value. Let's just say your SDS was 20. ASDSs can hit 50 pretty easy and can get up to 60-70 without to much trouble. Thiscould add another 40-50 points to your buff packs. For now, if Bivoli is too expensive, I would just settle for BE clothes. They are pretty inexpensive, make a big difference, andare a one time purchase.

I finally did manage to find some superior dolovite on a vendor today, but in 100k blocks at 20cpu, it seems like a lost cause. I didnt know ASDS could get up that high, so I do see how they would help a lot, just dont see me having 2 mill to drop on it anytime soon considering im also supporting my husband while he holo grinds all of the Artisan professions. Went from 11 mill creditsto 2 mill in 9 days, which is why I wanted to try out doc, all the docs I know are rich. Sigh, i guess its back to coronet for tip buffing til i make some more money.

Thanx again for all the advice.

One thing I never understood from reading the FAQs ... does the clothing, droids, bivouli etc affect the quality of the buff while crafting .. or only when you apply the buff? ie do I need all that stuff to make the buff in the first place?

They just added bonuses when you actually use the buff pack, soyou do not need them to make the pack.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help and advice...

I was able to craft my buffs up to 855 using the regular SDS, adding BE'd clothes and +21 bivoli I was buffing at 2316 for 3+ hrs....not too shabby! Then I happened upona small amountof dolovite and redid my buffs schems, they are now at base effec of 911. I think i'm doing ok lol. Thanx again to everyone, and this whole forum...I found a lot of great info here.

Keep your eyes open for good herb meat. We did just have abnormal shift on Radiant less than 3 weeks ago. If you post on the trade forum you probably will be able to get some but it wasn't cheap. It was being sold for 60 CPU at the time.

With 825 power, bivoli, BE clothes, and a droid, you should be buffing at like 2100+, which is great (especially since i'm on wanderhome and we have no avian ). People will deffinitely pay for those kind of buffs, as long as the duration isn't something like 2hrs. If the duration is good, the power is 825, thats fine, and if its not too hard to make, stick with that for now. Keep your eye out for the better resources, but this is fine.

I know i'm behind, but 825 is fine if you run out of something, or just dont want to put too much work into it. Thats what i was getting at....but i'm not too coherent right now...

Wrong,
Tatooine has some nice avian right now, but only dwarf nunas give them as far as I know.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong that dwarf nunas are the only avian creatures on tatooine. And no, vynocks are not avian.
