Thread: Res without /revivePlayer?
I was on a Tusken raid last night on Tempest and there was a fellow doc along that was not a Master Surgeon. He was reviving people. When I asked how this worked without /revivePlayer he said that all you needed was a high enough med skill and put the res kit on the toolbar.
He also said that buff packs worked the same way -- that you don't need /healEnhance to use the buff packs if your med use is high enough.
Anyone else experienced this?

Was he not a Master Surgeon, or was his title just not displayed. You need (or needed) to have the skill to use the meds before. But you have always been able to have placed the meds in the toolbar and click directly on them. It works the same for a lot of things, like "Cure Poison" and getting "No Valid Medicines Found", or if you don't have the skill, nothing. You can just use the Cure Poison Medpack from the toolbar instead. I use Enhances like that, since it saves on some typing. Or using Wound Medpacks, or things like that.
I'd have to assume that this is something that is more a bug than an exploit. Most people will have gotten to Field Surgeon long before they'll get to Med Crafting 4.
I was not there Wingus but2 others in your party were describing the same situation to me in /tells.
Mayhap I will venture to TestCenter tonight and start a character there to work on testing these sorts of things.

He was definitely not a Master Surgeon because he was asking me to train him once he got enough xp. I personally witnessed him reviving people (guessing he got his res kits the same way I did: bazaar). I did not /bug it because I wasn't sure if it WAS a bug or just something I didn't know about.

Ok I can not yet revive folks but I have just made a kit. Now all I have to do is find someone to die for me. And yes I worked out the crafting xp first. So sue me. ![]()

I am on tempest if anyone wants to watch or be the test subject.
Of course if it does work I will be filling out a bug report and reporting it as an exploit.
unconfirmed, i've got 0404 skills, i can res and i can enhance, but i cannot use enhanceD's since i have only 55 med use and they require 77
+med use clothing does not work.

Revive pack med skill use 50.

I found a victim err test subject. He still had newbie deaths tho.
I killed the test subject in a duel and could not revive him even after a /consent.
Now a few issues I still want to test on.
I want a subject I don't have to kill.
I want a subject that doesn't have newbie deaths left.
So I will try and set those up here later today if I can.
But first round of tests no go.
That is how it always worked for me. I had more than enough med use to use the packs long before master. You just put the pack in the toolbar or you select the pack in your inv and use it on someone. I guess I always thought that was how it was supposed to work.
I was using revives long before i got that on the skill chart. Now I couldnt make the items until i got that schematic though. Are you sure that it isnt the ability to make those items that you get?
Well all schematics are gained through the doctoring crafting and I have that at 4. I have been able to make the kits for sometime now.
My current skills are 0/3/3/4.
So unless there is a magic medical use number to using the pack and getting the ability before it it gained at wound treatment 4.
To further check that out I will get level 4 in doctor knowledge before getting level 4 in treatment. I will save level 4 treatment for my last box and continue to test this till I hit master.
And you should not be able to revive a person till you have doctor treatment 4 per the skill trees. Now if there is an error in the trees we need to get it fixed. And if this is just a bug we need to get it fixed the trick is to find out how the bug works and why it works and then get that reported so it can be fixed.
Reso, have you tried reviving a player that was grouped with you? I'm fairly new to the whole resuscitation thing and I'm still learningthe ins and outs. For instance, tonight, a friend of mine (Overt Reb) was killed by a passing Imp. I tried to Revive him, but was told that I needed /consent. The only times in the past that I've revived players, I've been in their group so that may be one test factor that needs to be accounted for.
As a side note, when I was unsuccessful reviving my friend, the Imp turned around and incapped/db'd me. Evidently just attempting to revive someone will TEF you (I was covert at the time obviously). Had I known this little tidbit, I would have scampered toward my house not 20m away.
