Thread: I need help picking a Droid!
Heya,
Okay...I am a droid lover, so here it goes....
I keep 5 droids on me! Now, you may say, "why?"
Answer is simple....
First off, you can get almost any droid built in with a storage module and medical crafting station module built into it.
Second, you can decide which kind of droid you like best, and have that one, or ones, or mix and match them for storage of buffs, poison packs, cure woundpacks, etc.
Third, you can name them anything.....which can be either informative or fun.....or both!
Fourth...anything you put in a droid WILL NOT DECAY WHEN YOU CLONE....hence why I keep several crafting units inside a medical droid with storage and a station built into it.
Fifth...if you also have a profession like Smuggler, or carry armor for staying alive during battles....go back to fourth and remember that when you get searched, the Stormies will not be able to find your contraband or sliced armor!
Okay...now on to models of droids....
Alot of doctors like the surgical droids. Those scream doc, and they are good for some people. Me, I think that is cliche and so don't haveone.
The next choice alot of docs turn to is the good, reliable R2 units. I have one, I love it.
The R3's look almost like the R2's and if you want a slightly different version of the R2, this is a good bet. Additionally, it sometimes looks like it has a brain inside....very cool. I have one of these, too.
The R4...looks like that red and white droid that Luke bought at first in A New Hope, well, that is becoming more popular now, but you still see alot fewer of them than the others I have mentioned. I keep one of these just for buff storage, and another for combat.
All of these droids can be named. They all change colors every time you pull them out, however. We don't know why.....
Then you get to the LE Repair droids. They are upright droids, sort of like C3PO without his gold metal on....a greenish hue. They can't be named, but soon will be....we hope. Few have this type of droid, and if you really want a different kind of medical droid, this is my pick. I of course, have one of these!
The other droids, like the probot can be equipped with the same stuff, but they don't look so.....doctorish I think. Most people when you pull out a probot droid don't think you are going to help them...they think you are going to kill them!
Any way you slice it, though, that storage of 10 items is VERY HELPFUL.
Hope all of this helps!
Oh...and if you are charged over 20k for any droid with medical and storage built into it....you are paying TOO MUCH!
Good luck,

You need to track down a decent DE. Search using the vendor category on the map or using the player search facility in any major town.
When you speak to him you will need to ask for a 110% medical module, plus a storage module. Optionally you could ask for a food and chemical crafting module so you can use it as a private crafting station as well. The choice of Chassis is largely up to you. Personally I went for a BLL to be different (the ones that look likea little bit likeAT-ST's) and paid 12k with all the above modules fitted. The storage module allows me to store 10 items (a set of buff packs, bivoli crate, a droid repair kit and batteries).

The most important droid any long term doc will come to know and love is....
Advanced MSE aka Mouse droid.
Why? becouse you can sit on it and know one will know your buffing. I freaken love my little guy. I can sit in coro in peace and buff a few friends and no one sends me "are your buffing" tells. It has saved my life. Oh and name it something like "food crafting station" or "Tailor Crafter".
Sure, throw in a few of the others for show so when you do want the world to know your a doc you can to it.
Also, if it doesn't have storage get rid of it. You will need all the space you can get.
Be sure your droid of choice has the Level 6 medical module: that gives you a 110% medical environment to work in.
Note that Hospitals and Med Centers are only 100%, soI actually heal and buff better standing outside with my med module equiped LE Repair Droid...
1) 110% medical module
2) food and chemical crafting station module
3) 10 item (level 14?) storage module
you need to think of how you plan on using the thing.
Buffer - get the Adv Surgical Droid chassis, its almost as good for advertising you are a doctor as much as your title. its main drawback is the LOW HAM, don't even think of having this one around when combat occurs, one shot and it is likely destroyed.
Combat Support - gonna be a field doc? hunting/healing, pvp even? get the adv probot chassis, its relatively high HAM will at least be likely to take a couple shots from the opponent that decides that your ability to rebuff fallen mates is not healthy for their side of the battle.
Undercover Doctor - just about any other chassis will work here, the mouse droids work really well especially since they look so innocuous.
Unique Doctor - just like everyone else, get a droid you don't see frequently, the BLL, 3P0, R2, R3, R4, R5, etc.
Basically its all about how you plan on using the droid and how you feel about it's aesthetics.
