Q: Where does one obtain a Private Crafting Station
A: An Architect makes these.
Q: how much does it cost
A: It is up to the Architect, just like it is up to a Doctor to charge for their service.
Q: and are there any special requirements for owning one?
A: You need somewhere to place it, your own personal house, guild hall or a friends house.

Private crafting stationsare player-made.They can be in a droid (made by DE), orplaced in a building (made by architect). The crafting stationsplaced in buildings look identical to the public ones, but they have functionality ratings when you examine them. The rating affects the rate of critical failures, etc, and ahigh rating is 43+.
You can use other people's private crafting stations or place one in your own house (or get a droid with one in it). It's not hard to find a public player-owned building with a private crafting station in it ... just head for your nearest player-owned medical supplies shop and you'll probably find one.

Just an addendum to the original question. I have a crafting station in my 110% med droid. As it's got the 110% rating will I make more effective items using that rather than using a private station or does it have no bearing. My understanding is that when crafting the bivoli, droid and clothing doesn't actually help.

The higher the rating on your station the less you will critical fail.
I personally craft in a research city using a plus 40 station and both chef foods. Seldom doI see the large amount of critical fails we used to get. (there was a crafting bug that would cause you to fail over and over and OVER, if this is happening to you log in and out to fix it)

No the 110% rating only applies to healing and buffing. I'm not sure what the rating of a private station is inside a droid, probably best to check with the DEs on this one.

DOES THE QUALITY OF THE ACTUAL CRAFTING STATION MODULE MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE ON THE CRAFTING PROCESS?
Can you please clarify that just a tad? Thanks very much!
Nope. It neither adds nor subtracts from the process.
I've used crafting tools with +14 and -14 and never noticed any differences in crafting.
