Thread: Quasi-Noob Question

Heya everyone. After a few months off, I've resubscribed (couldn't stay away, lol.) and had a question for you knowledgeable docs.

When I left I remember there was a lot of talk about a possible change to the buffs formula and a reduction of experimentation so that stats would be less important and variable buffs would be a thing of the past. The idea was that instead of two docs with the same resources buffing at 1500 and 3000 everyone would buff at 2400 or some such.

Did this happen? How do buffs work currently? Are folks still selling buff pacs to docs who don't have good resources or no?

Thanks, y'all.

Buffs work pretty much the same as ever but they are now not as variable. Experimentation and your own skill define how good a buff is going to be (I believe the equation is in one of the sticky posts above) but resources that make an 1800 buff for example, willalways make an 1800 buff. (experimentation fails not withstanding.)

I'm not sure what the max a buff can make is these days, as I've yet to get every component at max value to find out, however good buffs tend to be 2000+ (upto around 2400) and last 3-3.5hrs. (someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

Yep, times have changed regarding buffs.

See the Doc FAQ sticky, then hit the Buff Calc link for all the details.

Some rules of thumb.

1. A 900ish power pack will hit for about 2200+ w/o using bivoli (a food that adds to wound treatment skills).

2. A 900ish power pack will hit for about 2400+ w/ +24 bivoli.

There is a new window box that shows your buff timer (how long the buff will last). This goes for doc, ent, food, etc. Very handy.
